Blendmount
Thinking of buying one for my STi. Then doing the hard wire mirror set up. Has anyone had second thoughts after the install. How visible outside the car is the display from the rear at night ? Do you leave it in place or remove it and stow it when away from the car ? At the moment, I use the smart cord plugged into the ash tray outlet and the STi is resting on a no slip pad laid on the dash. Makes it very convenient to stow and go ...........
I'm currently using the blendmount & invisicord with my whistler I used the bracket that attaches to the detector & mounted it to the blendmount. I really like the setup. however, I don't ever remove my detector so that's not a problem. As far as if its "out of the way", I would say yes. 1st couple of times I drove the car I noticed it hanging there.. now, its not even noticed. I don't regret it at all. Tonya
George,
Is it easy to take the detector on and off? I switch mine between truck and vette. How does it mount to mirror?
Steven
I just finished installing the Blendmount and MirrorTap with an Escort 9500ix. Haven't even driven with it yet, so can't report on vibration, etc.
It is just as easy to remove the detector from the mount as it is to remove the regular suction cup mount from the detector. You push down on the top front of the detector so you can get your finger to the release button, push the button and it slides right out. To reinstall it, you push a tab on spring clip, then slide it into slot on the detector -- just like mounting the suction cup device.
It mounts to the mirror by clipping in to a slot all the way on the mirror mount (see George's 3rd pic). There's a silicone pad that goes between the Blendmount and the windshield to provide added support (and I suspect reduce vibration).
I am planning to glovebox the detector when parking in public. It is visible from the outside, so too much of a temptation for theft.
As others have said no vibration here either. I do have the Z51 package & I did get the blendmount that is made for it. I believe the spring is stiffer to minimize shaking.
I have the 9500ix with the blendmount and invisicord. No regrets.
I take it off if I am going to be parked somewhere for a while. Sometimes I just slip it in my pocket. If I am just going into the market for 30 minutes I usually don't remove it.

Hello steven, It secures around the base of mirror stem and rests against windshield, very good system expensive but you get what u pay for. It came with a foam pad to reduce vibration but i did not need it, its rock solid and comes off very easy. I use my unit in other cars. I do dismount it and put it on side of seat near power buttons. I got 14k on those tires and wheels u sold me, love them. I see you changed cars again, you forgot that i wanted that JSB GS, so when u r ready to sell PM me
Thanks George

I've got one - expensive compared to the other mounts but once it's in there's no chance it'll come loose. No shake. I leave mine in pretty much all the time. One thing - like most detectors it's very visible from the outside so it will not be hidden from a LEO if you're stopped. $.02
