This is interesting. They must have found a new way of organizing the data on the disc. These discs have always been Double Layer discs...my original '07 disc had more data on it than would have fit on a single layer DVD. I have since sold it on ebay, so I can't check the exact amount. The version 7 (2011) west disc by itself has 8 GB of data on it. A single layer DVD can hold 4.3 GB and a DL disc can hold 9GB.
When the discs were divided between east and west, both discs had a full map of the USA. The data that was separated was POI (basically advertising) and address info. This is why you had to put in the disc for the region that had the address that you programmed into the system. Without programming in a destination address, either disc could be used to provide a map of any town in the USA, just not address info.

It will work in any C6 from 2005-2012 with the nav unit. They appear to have found a new method to store the data because there doesn't appear to be any less POI's available then my two disc 2011 version 7 DVD set and the 2012 disc is also much more up to date.

I have the new 2012 version 8 disc in my 2007 and it covers both the East and West on the one disc and works great without any problems.
