I do think the Vette is about a solid an overall car as any on the planet.forget the seats, that's small stuff and doesn't count.

Let's face it there won't be a volume sell on any car priced at $80K+...
Looks at the volume of ZR1s, Vipers, 911s, etc.. Only rich or very dedicated people buy at those price levels....

at the end of all comparos be it NSX, GTR, etc., the buyer starts to think: is this car worth the money for what I get? and that's where GM has to be thinking, too, about the price of their cars. I'm sure they are, right?

Agreed and the new NSX will be priced out of most Corvette buyers pocket books.

I have not heard a price but I would not be surprised to see well beyond $150,000. You will not see to many of them around.

Might just be to much technology for my taste, seems as this is the way of the world now.

I look at it this way: It is good for the breed. Cars like the NSX will push Corvette to be that much better with the C7.

Yea, and how's that working for the venue?
As Felix Sabates once said about Indycar racing..."It's like watching grass grow."

IIRC ICR'g 'invited' Chevrolet and Ford back to compete.
If correct take a wild guess *why* they might've felt the additional participation is needed?

I actually work for Honda, and they do not give major details on new cars very often. They will give some points of interest bust most of the time you really wait to see it for yourself. From what I've heard it will be the V6 to the rear wheels with their Hybrid(electric motors) system powering the front. Could be a very good set-up. As far as price, if it goes north of 150k I don't see it selling well. I love any car, don't care who makes it, if I like the looks and how it performs. Heck my first car was a 1978 Pinto. Now that was a sweet car!!

I dont know, but that is one of the sexiest cars I have ever seen. If one car made me switch from the vette, it would be the new NSX..

This is the key...it's basically just a concept car now. The C6 can't be scooped by a concept....we've been driving around in them for 7 years now.

Any car can be modified to be fast but FWIW the few NSX's I see at the track aren't very impressive. I don't know much about the new NSX though.

That sounds horrible to me but I suppose if that's what you're into it'll be a "good" setup.

The original NSX was a very nice car that simply lacked power. It was very easy to live with, looked great, and the exterior styling aged pretty well (the interior not so much, but hey, who are we C6 owners to talk?). The proposed new NSX will almst certainly be a better car than the old one in every way, but I would conservatively estimate a $125K to $140K price tag - it could even be more - and all that for a V6, even as nice as it's likely to be. No thanks, it's pretty much the same case as it was the first time - not really a Corvette competitor. In performance numbers, maybe, but it won't really appeal to the same audience. Myself, I'd still like one, though. Looks great.

let's not forget that some companies act differently. the original NSX started around 1990. by the time it finished its long run, and for many years BEFORE 2005, it was selling maybe a couple dozen, per year, in the US.

when asked early in the 2000s why Honda would continue making this car at such low sales volume, the official reply was because they are an engineering company and this car means/meant a lot to their engineers--to see it, and know that is their flagship car.

we can dispute the merits or looks of that car or the new one coming out, but they didn't seem to care what others thought about the old NSX. it was important to them.

that's a very different mindset than say, Carlos Ghosn's Nissan and its GTR cost and sales numbers. or maybe even Corvette's mindset at/in GM....

The comment "It's just a Honda" is without thought. Go tell the makers of Ford that it's just a GT. Seven years later it's still selling for list price or more.

Why without thought? We still live in America. We are allowed opinions. Personally the only Honda I have ever liked was one of their bikes. Honda cars are usually boring and bland. Granted the NSX is different but in my opinion it's just a Honda and nothing special. Just because you're a "car guy" does not mean you have to like all cars.
