I had a questions for you people, I recently bought a 2006 z06 with less then 300 miles, The original owner purchased the vehicle and stored it in a climate controlled building, only only drove it to get sevice done to it, the car is in mint condition. I know there were only 6,272 z06 produced of that year and also know that the 2006 z06 was the return year of the z06 while Chevrolet took 2005 to redesign the frame and engine. So the question is, should I store the vehicle for resale value(if yes, when do you expect the value to go up on the vehicle and an estimate to approx how much?), or just drive and enjoy the hell out it. I'd really appreciate your feedback, so thanks in advance.
My view is the car will not increase in value because of the large numbers made and there is nothing special about the car. That not to say it's not a great car. I have an 06 and think it's the best car I've ever owned. My advice is drive it and enjoy.
Unless you're prepared /able to store this vehicle as the original owner did for another 25-40 years then drive the thing. American muscle WILL NOT interest 50/60 somethings in 2048 as the 70's cars are salavated over buy this age group now, so this reduced interest will set the price. The ,"'it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it" rule will apply. Enjoy that bad boy.
Imagine what a 1966 Corvette big block that had been stored for 46 years would be worth. About 100K, probably, as it would need a total restoration at this point. You'd do better if you had bought stock in AT&T, IBM, etc. back then.
Did you buy it:
...as an investment and future collectible?
...to be its caretaker for the next 30 years?
...to sell at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2040?

Cars are meant to be driven. Drive it.
And that's assuming you have good paperwork to go with it, on the right day - and giving 10 or 20% to the auction house (don't forget TAX on that "income" either!).
Cars are not investments for the vast majority of us, and it's already a "two owner car." Regardless of what you do, that car will continue to depreciate over the foreseeable future, perhaps just at a slower rate with the limited miles.
Watch the auto auctions on TV once in a while, the few cars that sell for more than $30K have at least that much put into them during the restorations. Even the 1970's era cars, unless super rare or super desirable for whatever reasons, rarely catch more than that without restoration (and that's 40 freaking years of holding onto a car!)
Just drive the damn thing and enjoy it. If you want to invest, there are smarter ways of gambling with your money.
I bought my ZO6 new, and drive the heck out of it, like meant to be. I don't collect anything, as either enjoy it, or sell it off. Don't like lots of stuff laying around I'll never use.
A loaded 2006 black Z06 just sold at the Barrett Jackson auction for $52,000. The car had only 91 miles on it. Was this a good investment for the original purchaser to let the car sit for 6 years and lose 20 grand....I don't think so! Drive it and enjoy it!

Funny you should mention old big blocks. In the 70's and 80's those cars had terrible resale. You couldn't give one away. And now it's different.

Its a bad investment. Sure, it might be worth 150k 40 years from now.
But if you took that 50k or whatever you paid for it, and invested it with a decent broker making 5%, it would be worth at least double that.
I am a day trader, thats how I made the money to purchase the vehicle, especially since I purchased it with the intention to drive the vehicle, so I wouldn't consider it a bad investment. But wanted the opinions of the Corvette enthusiasts who have an interest in the car to hear their input.

I'm the one who purchased that Corvette from Barrett-Jackson, my question was in reference to that. Glad to know people on here pay attention and may even go to those auctions, so next time if i'm interested in a corvette and can't make it, i'll post here so some kind person could maybe be my eyes there. Thanks alot, and thanks for being nice to the newb.

Congrats on the Z06, welcome to the Forum, and you may be a newb.....................but you got a Z06! Drive it and enjoy it.
I'm shocked GM made that many Z06's due to the fact most sat on lots because the dealers were basically holding a gun to your head making you pay $10-20K over MSRP!
