Default Another LS2 lifter question

I saw another thread about LS2 lifter failure and have a question, but didn't want to hijack that thread. I have an 05 coupe with about 80k miles on the clock. I keep it in a heated garage, so it's never very cold when I start it in the morning (I keep the t-stat on 50), but I'm starting to hear a little clatter when I first start it. It goes away after the engine warms up. Is this a sign of pending lifter failure?

no but, what weight oil do you use? after engine shutdown, the lifters start bleeding down, when you first start, they are noisy, and should be quiet after 30 seconds.

If it goes away shortly after starting then it is nothing to worry about.

Might be time for a little heavier weight oil in the engine

I would be using 10W-40 in the engine myself

It's impossible to say but chances are it's normal. No point worrying (too much) about a problem you don't have. I'd keep an eye (or an ear) on it and if the noise significantly worsens then have it checked out.
