The BLOCKIT Sound deadening system reduces irritating cabin noise in seconds without tearing up your carpet!
Just place it in!

The pre cut BLOCKIT Sound Deadening System lays right over your existing Carpet!
Perfect for taking that annoying edge off tire, road noise, stock & aftermarket exhausts.
The BLOCKIT also helps suppress heat too!
So efficient, we filed for a patent!

One large piece fits perfect in your cargo area. One piece is designed for behind each seat. Durable UV protected perforated top layer looks great and allows you to still use your cargo area. Feel free to place an aftermarket cargo mat on top!

We created this unique multi layered combination of real acoustical soundproofing. It’s then bonded and cut using the same process found in the auto/trucking industry which produces an efficient, high quality product.

We tested using a Bruel & Kjaer ( #1 in sound and vibration equipment) Model 2250 Type 1 Sound Level Meter. Done in the dreaded 1500-2000 rpm range.
Dropped approx 10 dbs.

I would like it to be quieter, but the installation of the other kits is more than I want to do.

Feedback from people is what really counts. In the past 2 years there have been countless positive posts, threads started about the Blockit or threads where people refer it. Here are a few I grabbed...

The Blockit does a great job quieting down your interior. If your looking for dead quiet, this is not for you.

For anyone planning on doing one of the insipulation kits - do yourself a big favor and add some Dynamat (or RaamMat, etc) dampening material to the rear cargo floor panels, and then install the insulation on top of that.

Noise from the rear is a combination of external noise (tire rumble, exhaust, wind noise, etc) combined with panel vibration from the thin plastic material used for the hatch tub and wheel wells. Insulation kits will block a percentage of the inbound noise, so the less noise coming in, the better. The dampening material will help ensure there's less noise present to block. It's extremely important when it comes to loud exhausts.

Just use strips of the dampening material to cover 40% of the surface, and you're good to go.

The biggest part of the job is removing everything to lay down the insulation - might as well do it right if you're in there anyways.

You need to butcher the interior to have real results, not a placebo affect by putting a carpet in the trunk

I think it is a great kit for the price. Any kit that involves removing the seats and all of the carpet is work, but the results will be noticeable.
My kit was shipped fast and I called customer service with a question regarding the install; left a message, and quickly received a call back.

Decoupled barriers work - it really doesn't just look like carpet. Haven't handled one myself, but from the looks of it, it definitely looks like a solid product. But the results would be a lot better if a full barrier were installed, instead of just in one area.

If you have a bunch of people shouting at you from across the room, and you put up a wall in the middle of the room, it would be a lot less effective if the wall didn't go all the way across the room. That's pretty much what this is doing. Covering one area of the trunk but leaving everything else untouched is pretty limiting.

You've clearly never seen one in person. It's not remotely anything like carpet.

Is there a simple test that I can do to see what if any real difference there is however slight? Because right now I can't tell the difference and my car is factory stock?

There's an app for that!

Actually there are a few. I haven't used them (I have an AudioControl meter), but the reviews are pretty good for a few of them. Install the app, and the take with and without Blockit readings at various speed/rpms.

If you have an iPhone, just search for "db meter" or "spl meter" in the app store.

I guess it must be difficult to hear any difference with just your ears?

I've done a number of thing to nearly eliminate annoying road noises from penetrating into the passenger compartment of my '09 coupe and interfering with conversation and the marvelous sounds of the NPP dual mode performance exhaust (held open 1/4") and the fantastic (non-Bose) sound system:
1. Ordered the optional F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Contol suspension.
2. Replaced the OEM Goodyears with Michelin Pilot Sport Plus A/S Z/P tires.
3. Installed Vettebin storage compartment and cargo area divider.
3. Installed Block-It cargo floor and passenger compartment bulkhead pads.
4. Installed Lloyd cargo floor and passenger floor mats.
5. Installed Sound-Tec acoustical foam with leaded vinyl center layer and heat reflective foil backing inside the twin rear under-floor storage compartments and against the cargo compartment rear wall, the latter held in place by the parcel net.
6. Installed Sound-Tec between dual cargo shades supported by six bungee cords to seal-off remaining storage compartment noises from reaching and being amplified by the cone shaped rear window.
7. Installed Sound-Tec underneath the passenger floor mats, extending both up the firewall and underneath the seats.
8. Installed padded cloth headliner panels inside the transparent roof panel.
My last remaining task will be to apply rubberized undercoating inside the fender liners to not only further reduce road noise but impact noise from splash, gravel and sand impacting the liners.

The problem is with calibration. It's easy for something to sound louder or quieter purely because of expectation. And it's really difficult to hear actual differences in volume unless both sounds are heard in very close proximity. So while there's cerrtainly a difference with and without Blockit, it may be difficult to actually tell how much quieter it is with 15 minutes in between listenings.

Well shouldn't be at least $200+ quieter?

Their is certainly a "placebo" effect, that after going through the effort and expense of choosing, buying, and installing a modification, that your expectations seem to be fullfilled, even if their is no real difference. Scientific measurements under such circumstances are the only way to assure that your mind isn't playing tricks on you. On the other hand, our bodies are remarkable in their ability to detect very small differences, like one degree F. or C. in temperature, and accurate "scientific" measurements are often difficult to achieve, especially in a complex environment such as an automobiles interior, and taking into effect the hearing capabilities and preferances of different people. Of course, some effects, like new tires replacing old, are initially very apparent, but relatively short lived, as the new tires soon heat age and wear with use. Personally, I would love to have access to a quality sound meter, and someone who knows how to operate and interpret its results. Until I install something permanent, like spray-on undercoating, I can remove some six sound reduction measures I have implimented, in less than ten minutes. Anybody out their with a sound meter near Mooresville, NC (Race City USA)/?

Man, that'd be AWESOME, especially with a base measurement, before even the inner fender rubber undercoating mod (the one I'm most interested in ). Nothing like objective and unbiased results .
Hey, if nobody bites, can you at least try an iPhone app, to have some data? Better than nothing, no? Remember what we're interested in are DIFFERENCES . Probably not precise, but more than enough for our purposes, don't you think? And take measurements after EACH layer, to measure approximate (yes, unscientific) effectiveness of each. DO IT MAN .
