I agree! the guy was not mad at me at all. He was smart enough to know that I do not give him a price for his car a used car manager does. Guess we need to let some of these tuff guys on this forum know how the car game works.

I have a 2009 JSB Coupe 3LT with about 10,000 or so miles on it. Depending on the Options and Condition I am thinking that you are very low on a 3500 mile car...
2009 coupe with 3,500 miles? They guy has barely driven it enough to even give it an oil change ... probably garage kept too.
Depending on the trim, LT1, LT2 or LT3 ... a fair offer for that low mileage would have to be minimum $35k-$39k.
The dealership would probably try to resell that vette as certified pre-owned in the mid-forties.
The car is now 3 model years old and when I picked up my 2007 Convert with every option available and only 2,751 miles on it the car I bought was 4 model years old and I paid about 1/2 of what the original sticker price was.
It sounded like a pretty much base coupe with a manual trans according to the OP's original posting so for a dealer to be paying $35-39k sounds very crazy considering some forum dealers are advertising brand new 2012 M6 base coupes for $39,990.00

Again, there was little info on options, so I'm assuming it was base wheels, and 1LT or 2LT, no Z51 pkg, std top etc. If so, $29 (maybe 30-31) for a trade in is probably not too far off. I would bet this car sells in around $34-35k. Having just bought a 09 3500 mile MN6 myself, I know that a very low mileage car is hard to value, as normal mileage for this year is considered around 30k. Most of the KBB, Edmunds, NADA, etc do not credit you back much for very low miles, even though the astute vette buyer will pay extra for it. Thats because he can then drive the crap out of it for 3-4 years and still not have a hile mileage trade. Better option is always to offer high on the trade in, then be firmer on the price of the new car.

If a 2Lt is heads up display like I think it is, Then the car was a 1Lt it had leather seats and power windows and locks cd player other than that nothing to fancy. He put aftermarket rims on it so I am not sure what the oem wheels looked like.
You're welcome. It reminded me of a thread not long ago, with some poor guy got blasted for asking help as his FOB was locked in the car by a valet. Instead of getting help he received cocky comments. Pretty sad indeed.
But for the most part this is a excellent place to come and look for information and help.
I don't assume anything with car sales and appraisals. You didn't say if the car was a one owner, pampered garage kept car, no stone chips, door dings, accidents etc. any interior ware issues or warranty status. Clear Car Fax? All of which matters. Just 09 with 3500 miles. If the car is well kept, clean and unmolested with those low miles I think you are about 4K low give or take.
I am a car salesman at one of the biggest Chevrolet dealers in America. We recently appraised a 2009 base model with an M6 with only 3,500 miles for $29,000 I was just wondering if that sounded right to you guys or not. I am new to the Corvette world and new to the Car Sales world.
I am only guessing the appraisal was for trade-in value, or perhaps he was asking to sell it to the dealership. In that case $29k is about a number I would expect for that car. The dealership would then put it on the lot for $39k and hope to sell it for $35k.
And before the comments come rolling in, let me say everybody has to eat and nobody is holding a gun to the sellers head.
We all want the lowest "buy" price and the highest "sell" price.

They could of offered him any amount they wanted. He did leave, and the dealer more then likely lost. It is what it is.
Obviously the dealers offer was low. If not the guy would of drove off the lot in another car.
Well lets see. There are 2012 1LT coupes, brand new out here for 45 grand.Exactly how close to that are you all willing to pay for an 09? I'd say depending on what that car is rolling thru the auction for is what the dealership should pay.THEY ARE TALKING WHOLESALE TRADE IN,NOT RETAIL!Yes,they would like to make a buck or two when they resell it on their lot. That is what they do and why they go to work.TO MAKE MONEY.29 MIGHT BE A TOUCH LOW,BUT i DON'T THINK IT'S to far off the mark considering the market as a whole these days...and it's a 1LT.

First, I commend you for trying to develop your product knowledge. That said, ANY black book, edmunds.com, kbb.com, ... Will get you close on value. Keep studying, my man, and kick your used car appraiser in the small, incompetent ********* for us.
