I am a car salesman at one of the biggest Chevrolet dealers in America. We recently appraised a 2009 base model with an M6 with only 3,500 miles for $29,000 I was just wondering if that sounded right to you guys or not. I am new to the Corvette world and new to the Car Sales world.

this can only sound right with plenty of vaseline. The better question would be how much would you be reselling that car for?
The dealer gives you auction price nowadays and never takes into account condition, mileage, etc. There ought to be a law against it. How do they sleep at night?

And that mentality is why I haven't dealt with a Corvette dealer in the D/FW area in the last 20 years. I've bought about 6 C6s in the last 6 years and and the closest dealer that I dealt with was in a small town outside Milwaukee.
Corvette dealers don't seem to understand that their competition isn't just within 25 or 50 miles. The Internet, telephone, email, fax, and car haulers make it incredibly easy to buy a car from 1,500 miles away.
Generally, I don't think it necessary to rape a customer (financially speaking) to make a living dealing in cars. The cold reality is that you lost that potential sale/trade and probably a dozen others after that owner tells his friends how you treated him. And you can bet he will go out of his way to tell them how you tried to screw him.
That's just how it is when you try to trade in a car. Every time I've ever gotten an appraisal I just laughed and walked out. If you want to get the most money for your car sell it privately. Dealers make the offers they do because a lot of people don't want to go through that hassle, and they're willing to pay through the nose to not have to.

Coming from a service oriented industry, I can vouch for that. When you do right, a person on average will tell maybe 5 of his buddies, but when you do 'em wrong, that number gets amped to 10-15 negative comments!

Welcome. I see you have been around here for like 3 weeks - you have maybe 4 or 5 posts. That's a newbie here.
Just want to respectfully advise that this can be a tough crowd. These guys and gals know their stuff and cut to the chase - and it's mostly all in good fun. Except for those members who will drop you on your grape.
when i traded in my 2004 coupe on my 2009 coupe, back in 2009, i got $21k trade value but my car had 60k miles and was 5 years old. Also i only paid $41k for my 09 2LT coupe. So no, that doesnt sound right at all.
it all depends on the options, base c6,, that's about what most dealers would appraise it for,,,, then mark it up to high 30's,,,, and come on, Texas? Corvettes are as common as mustangs and civics.
