What is a decent alternative brand? Do I need 2 or just 1. Can get a used one? EMTs are very expensive. Aloha
Firestone Wide Ovals, Michelin PS2's, Nitto Invos are the most popular.
If you go with a different tire, then replace 2.

Even though you might not have a choice on where to get your tires look at Tire Rack. They have all the tires for your vehicle. Just fill in the blanks and you will see all the tires for your vehicle and you can judge from there.

And, just fast can you go on Oahu...nah, never mind that.
Good luck.
If you change brands, you will be well advised to replace all 4 tires. You need equal traction in all 4 corners for any car, not just these awesome Corvettes.
It appears the least expensive way out for you is to order another GY EMT and be patient until it comes in.
The other question though is you said "near the sidewall", so how near is near and how big is the screw and did the screw go straight in and penetrate the tire or is it stuck in the rubber? Pictures would help. Like someone else said, a patch just might do the trick for you especially if you are not going to track the car. I have been to Oahu several times now and don't recall seeing any race tracks on the island and traffic can be pretty thick at times.
Hard to determine screw length, but it is in the tread about 3/4" away from sidewall edge. Goodyear advised leaving it in. Bad roads here. I have AAA to tow if needed. Don't know if I should attempt to have plug/patch while awaiting shipppment. Cant afford 4 new tires. Must order, prob from Tirerack again.
A weasel shop (most) will give you the exact same answer for a tire that CAN be plugged as they want to sell you at least one new tire. I've had supposedly reputable and knowledgeable tire shops want to argue with me about the repair of the Goodyear run flats and have had to actually make them call Goodyear for an education

[Btw, Goodyear says that to repair an EMT the tire needs to be BOTH plugged AND patched.]
I agree with mikeCsix - the simplest and cheapest out seems be a Tire Rack replacement for what you have now. This assumes that the tire on the other side is relatively new, of course, as you don't want them to be too uneven side-to-side OR front-to-back. Given the amount of rain in Hawaii, I'd want good tires on the car.
Corvette tires are not cheap no matter how you slice it. Part of the deal, unfortunately.

no offense.......but damn man.
Drive Safe
The way the GY tires acted in the rain, they were way more dangerous to drive on, that the tire with the plug in it.
With the threads 50% worn, the GY runflats hydroplaned like crazy, above 50mph.
Guess I should look into getting a spare set of tires cuz ya gotta have wheels to roll. Thanks for all the good suggestions. See ya on road, fast lane for me. Aloha

Glad to hear no puncture!
