Well I was at my local Chevy dealership today when the sales order guy
thanks me for bringing in my friend.
My friend got approved by GM for a COPO Camaro (white), only 69 total will be built and over 14,000 people applied for one. If you check only 69 total COPO's were built in 1969. While we talked to he received a call from GM (Detroit). GM confirmed it will be the only COPO sent to Atlanta. These cars are not streetable, roll cage and slicks from factory.
After that he tells me the 2014 Corvettes C7 will only be base model's and some convt. If sales are good then possibly a Z06 version later. The base model will likely be in the 500hp range due to the Camaro

He is not a saleperson, but is the primary person for ordering all the Chevy vehicles at this site.

How/why was it that your friend was selected?
When is he expected to receive the car?
What restrictions are their on use and resale?
Misinformation? From a local dealership? Oh, that would never happen........
True story...
When I was shopping Corvettes, I ask one salesclown if he has any with the dual mode exhaust. He says no. They all have quad exhaust pipes.

When I bought mine in 2006 the sales guy said it had 405 HP, I said "400", he said "No, 405" I said "no, 400, the Z06 has 505, you're getting it confused", he said, "No, see thats why they made the base 405, so it was exactly 100 less"
I just let him win that one..... made more sense than my "NO"

I was looking at a left over 2010 last fall on the lot and the sales guy told me to hurry up and make a decision because their Vettes sell fast. It had only been on the lot for two years at that time.
For one, he owned one of the original COPO cars and drag raced it at an AM (or full) PRO level back in the early 70's.
He's also being inducted into the Hall of Fame later this year due to his successes during his racing career. He's only raced and built Chevy's over the past 40yrs.
If anyone is familiar with the "409" then you may know who this is. I don't know all the history of it but this is his signature engine/design that he still machines/builds/sales/ships worldwide.
More specifically he is getting the 427 NA version. I'm anxious to see it when it gets here for sure.

The paperwork says they are only building 10 per month so not sure exactly at this point. He just received word he was definitely getting one earlier this week; Monday I believe.

Not sure and curious to know myself. I'm pretty confident he won't be one to buy and resale the thing. One dealer already did call and offer $20k over whatever he's paying for it so there is a desire for them. It has more meaning to him than to just turn a profit I believe.
I figured you guys would be negative so when the COPO arrives I will re-post. Maybe you will believe some.......my friend own a 1969 COPO #51.
So I feel that was his shoe in, if you care to check a famous baseball player now owns that one.
Also if you remember when GM introduced the C6 they intro. the base model first then reeled the public in every year with up-grades.
That is all I will say at this time.
