I installed a rear partition from VetteNutts (along with their Vettebin) and now the bottom portion of the shade is behind the partition - no more flapping, period.
You may find metal works better. That's what I used -- has enough weight. I also got a partition -- love it. It's kind of ridiculous that GM doesn't make them with an optional partition and a better solution for that dumb flap.
Just got my partition from exoticvettes.. love the fit and finish and the flap is now hidden.. rolled all day with the windows down today... no problemo!!
partition is heavy and expensive to just sit there
now that im at work and have time to surf, of course this has been gone through several times.
i like the idea of just cutting it off
and with the shower 'hook' i was looking for a place to hook but didnt want to stretch it so bad while the truck was open.. but really nice execution provided some black bands vs. white
for less than a dollar and no brains required to install the wood rod is a good fix tho
ill try to make a video on the highway windows down today lol.

Plenty heavy enough in mine. Also, I got the 3 footer instead of the 4. Yes, it is a couple of inches short on each end but those 2 inches are no different from the original condition and the center is now stable enough it doesn't matter. Besides, the 3 footer can be installed while still in the parking lot.

I have partition and cut off the flap. The partition is very functional as it stops any crap you have in the back from coming forward and hitting you if you brake hard.
I took my shade off and still had the flappies coming from passenger seat belt. I buckled it and no more flap. Put the shade back on and found it bearable.
I didn't like the bar coming down on my roof when I was storing the roof in the trunk. Last week I cut the entire curtain off with scissors and it looks great. (cut about an eighth inch away from the stitch. When it stretches upon install you won't be able to tell that it was a do-it-yourself job). Also, I have the partition, which keeps the area private.
This is my solution...since I have the rear partition, I simply took the rear hatch curtain/'floppy thing' to my local seamstress and had her cut it off and sew a nice seam so it looks like this>>>
And when closed makes for a nice clean appearance >>>
I used a steel rod from Ace Hardware cut to fit exactly between the wheel wells. When closed, it is heavy enough that the seam lies flat on the floor and doesn't swing around or move at all even with the roof panel removed.
