Best thing to happen to me, the dealer handed me the frt mount. I took it home, fabbed up a bracket that is removable and away I went.
2 forked shafts that slip through the grill, drilled for a retainer pin each side, lined the forks w/rubber so as not to damage the grill paint added 4 rubber bumpers to save the facia paint and away we go.
$5.00 out the door, on and off in 60 sec.

I use this kind of plug at work. We call them F--K up plugs. I have several sizes depending on the size of the hole. PM me and I'll send you a few. You would have to paint them to match but they would fit very flush and just look like a small round circle.

If you have negotiated the lowest price on the Z06 I would offer to split the cost of the repair. Maybe $250 off of the price.
Installing a front plate does not require drilling holes. My area has had a revenue raising campaign lately so I temporally installed mine.

Black is fairly easy to cover up....
I wouldn't make such a big deal out of it you can usually plug holes on your own pretty easy. I've seen a lot of vinyl plugs used when people remove spoilers and don't fill the holes immediately. Just sand them flat on the top and paint to match. If its a private seller I'm sure they aren't going to take much off the price.

I don't get what this policy has to do with drilling. The factory plate holder secures nicely with two sided tape. As far as I know that is the factory approved way to install. Why the hell would they drill???

Repairing two small holes and color matching the paint especially black is a no big deal repair for any quality body shop, I wouldn't be surprised if the shop that stated a bumper cover was necessary wasn't in fact planning on repairing the damaged bumper and charging for a new one.

I had a new cyber gray Camaro all lined up in NY. Just before I was going to leave Ct. and pick it up they sent me another pic on e-mail showing the car all set to go....with a front dealer plate screwed to the front of the car ... Deal breaker! Bought a C6 instead a few weeks later...No plate installed by Ct. dealer who understood people who like to keep the front end clean, in spite of tickets.

My vette was shipped from a dealer in Florida to one in Virginia. The guys in Florida never put a front plate holder on (guess it's not required). For cars without plate holders, dealer in VA would put on a generic piece of plastic drilled into the bumper. [Found all of this out before the sale by digging and asking tough questions].
Anyway, I told them that if the car arrived in VA with some Pep Boys plate holder screwed into the bumper, deal was off. Car came in with a piece of poster board inside the windshield that said "DO NOT MOUNT PLATES OR DEAL IS OFF!!!"
Still gives me a smile.

You can walk if you want , but the fact is there's more stuff that happens to all these cars on delivery and a lot of cars brand new have seen the body shop without the buyers ever even knowing there was any damages on delivery, I worked in a Pontiac dealership years ago I saw it, what I see is a beautiful car with only very minor damage that can be fixed with no trace ever of any damage if that's the only area of concern with this car looks to me like a winner i'ts a minor repair.
