Default Bluetooth Mic

Hey guys, does the bluetooth phone audio use the same mic as the on star (on the driver's pillar by the visor)? My wife can barely hear me in my 09 vert (with the top up) when I am going highway speeds, and I am thinking if it uses the same mic then I will do Kawal's mic swap for an '11 and up microphone since it uses a better, directionally pointed unit.
Thoughts?

There is a pillar mic upgrade/replacement. I did mine ('09 vert, 2LT) and the wifee said it sounded better ... but she doesn't usually listen anyway. Go to GM Parts, the new one has little horn shapes vs. the little slits, $15 or $20 I think it was ...

Default mic

Not sure why not if it doesn't, but my aftermarket head unit has a separate mic.

Yes, both use the same microphone.

added the new more directional mic and it does help a little in my vert, especially when the roof is down. When on the phone people definitely hear me better.

I have a 2011 with the 2LT (bluetooth setup), and it is far from perfect. Meaning, people have trouble hearing me on hands free, mostly at highway speeds. I have a coupe, and this is with the windows up and the NPP "quiet". It is also with new tires. Bottom line, even without a lot of cabin noise, it could be better.

My friend's BMW is much better, in the same situations.

I have a Samsung Focus windows 7 phone that also does bluetooth voice texts, and the "car" also has trouble with voice recognition. when just using the phone, it works much better.

I replaced the original A pillar mic on our 2009 with the upgraded directional version that came out a couple of years later.

Both microphones gave fair performance for the bluetooth, but awful for the Nav voice commands.
