Default 2006 modded vs 2008

Hi,
New user here from the UAE. I'm currently looking around for a used corvette. I'm 19 and it's been my dream car right after the Toyota supra since I was a kid. Well anyways i have 30k right nw and most 2008s are that price. Most 2008s I've seen are a bit dodgy as in bad leather and stuff like that. I was thinking of maybe getting a 2006-2007 which are a lot cheaper and overhauling the engine and do a full detail on the car and add headers and a programmer to make up for the 30hp difference between the ls2 and the ls3 with the rest of the money.
What do you think. How about reliability issues between them.
P.s. our weather most of the year is pretty hot as in 40-50c how would an automatic corvette handle that.? Anything I should look out for?
Thanks in advance

Personal Preference - I put my money on the 2008 Coupe with Z51 Performance Package. There again I did not want to modify mine.

General rule....get the newest you can afford. That being said, an 05-07 with headers and tune should put down more rbhp than stock 08 +.

Don't worry about the heat with an auto.

The 2008s mileages are really high aroun 60k+
I found a lot of 2006-2007 with lower milages...

Are you shopping in the UAE or in the states and having it shipped?

What part of UAE? I've been to Abu Dhabi and Dubai and agree that it's hot. I saw many exotic sports cars and luxury vehicles when I was was there.

Don't know about dodgy interiors for 08's and such but it is what you want and the money, I would choose the best build that suites your needs and not worry about ls2 vs ls3.....plenty of hp to be made with both options.

do not listen to those who tell you to simply go with the newest car you can afford (newer is not always better!). do your due diligence on any vehicle you consider purchasing and see what the differences are from year to year and try and figure out if they are worth whatever the costs differences are vs modifying. Always remember when you modify there is always some reliability sacraficed -- this coming from a HUGE modder....good luck

If I get the 2006 I'll have 10k to mod with. Is overhauling the engine worth it? Thinking of just making it my type of car like a sound system headers cai tune stuff like that nothing involving opening the engine.. Any reliability issues with headers and tunes?

imho anytime u change a car from the way it left the plant, there is some percentage of reliability lost. I dont wanna harp on this cuz what ur saying u wanna do is no way extreme just get quality parts and a quality installer - some1 preferably familiar with the type of car ur modding.

headers (american racing or kooks)
hi flow cats
cat back
cold air in
maybe a new thermostat
tune....call it a day...

ever consider a C5 Z06??? they're great cars with strong bottom ends...

Not really I love the c6 looks! What's the thermostat mod? Would it overheat the engine in our weather?
