OK...lots of threads on this, but what I want to know is has GM updated this part. If I get a new stock GM part is it the same POS thats wobbling in my car now?
Buy an aftermarket and be done if you are out of warranty and paying out of pocket.
ATI is the standard out there and if it can run on daily 1000hp car it will live forever on our cars. Pricey but do it once and done. My friend runs a performance shop and this is all he puts on the customer cars, never seen one fail yet.

The reason I'm asking is I was going to try to get GM to pay for it, but if its the same old part, I won't go through the hassle
Sure responses will follow shortly since I have seen a lot of people posting about this since I have been on the boards for the last year. Good luck with your repair, sure the forum guys will have better advice for you.
My car is at the dealership awaiting a new balancer from GM. As per the dealer, there are other balancer in stock at other dealerships, but since they have been on the shelf too long, GM want to use a "fresh" balancer as they believe that the existing stock may also be bad.
PM me if you want more details of what I'm going through.

After making millions of engines without this problem I never understood why GM abandoned the keyway but all of the Gen III and Gen IV V8 engines use a press-fit damper with no keyway. This has been the case since the LS1 was introduced in 1997. With the harmonic balancer a friction washer became a production part in the 2006 LS2 and LS7 engines (and I suspect it was the 'fix' in later model 2005's as well).
FWIW...it's not ideal but a slight amount of wobble may be within 'acceptable' parameters. If the crank-pulley hasn't loosened-up and walked (if it's on tight) your car may continue to run just fine with a slight wobble. If you're going to replace it I would (as mentioned) go with a better ATI balancer. Using a keyway and pinning the crank might be something else to think about. It's required for forced induction applications and highly advisable for high power naturally aspirated applications as well.

What years are affected by this harmonic balancer issue?

Another question is if you buy the ATI balancer and bring it to the dealer will they install it or will they refuse and insist on installing the GM one?
I had my 07 coupe at the dealer today for the "wobble", they are ordering a new one and fixing it under the certified warranty I have. I use Stingray in Palnt City, Fl. They are a huge Corvette dealer and treat their customers well.
I think it obvious that the stock hb is a poor design...I want GM to step up and do the right thing by offering a "Good Will" fix for those of us who are out of warranty.

No question its a poor design, just saying GM customer service on the forum has no authority to answer such a question.
Your probably right, but if your gonna call yourself a Customer Service Rep, one needs to be more than just a cheerleader!
I feel your pain. Before I bought my 2011 I had a 2005 with the vin number under 11039. They had a tsb out for the harmonic balancer bolt falling out on them under that vin #. I worried about that sob falling out all the time and since it wasn't a recall you just hoped it didn't happen.
So the final offer from GM Canada is 25% off the estimate of 12-1300 total. I'll get it done, pay under protest and sue in small claims court for a refund AND damages. I think I have a pretty strong case.

I am glad to hear that the dealer is planning to work with you. Let us know how it goes.
@montereyredvette,
I have received your private message and will be responding shortly. Thank you.
I have an '06 at the dealer right now getting a new balancer. They are waiting for a new/improved part that they say will cure the problem. I just bought the car (two weeks ago) and the extended warranty is paying. Whew!!
