the commercial for the 427 vert sure sounds like it has an automatic in it!!!! has anyone else noticed this? why would they do that?
I thought the same thing while listening.
The driver must be as good at shifting as the CF members on here that wait for every new thread about MN6 vs A6 and then post how the A6 is for girly men who have tiny little gonads and are not nearly as skilled at driving a stick as they are
I never paid much attention to it but it's likely they added a soundtrack in post production after shooting the video. That would be common. Using an incorrect soundtrack (from an automatic Corvette) would also be common.

You often shift into a gear "close" to the one you wanted.

The real question is why wouldn't they do that? They'd sell a lot more of them. Just look at the stats on manual vs auto sales and you will see.
Don't get me wrong, I have an '05 vert 6 spd manual.
I believe what the OP is asking is, "Since the 427 convertible will only be available with a manual transmission, why would they make it sound like it has an automatic in the commercial?"
Is it really the case that people miss gears very often with their Vette 6 speed?
From what I've heard here, it would seem many folks try to 'steer' their shifts a bit too much. My '05 does a great job of moving into position for the shift on it's own. The apparently 'dreaded' 2-3 shift is very easy when you just use the heel of your palm to push forward with no 'steering' necessary.

Well, we don't really know that they did or that they intended to make it sound that way.

The A6 transmissions used in the supercharged CTS-V and the supercharged Camaro are 6L90 units that bolt to the engine, not to the differential as with the C6. The A6 transmission used in the C6 is a 6L80. The 6L90 has a higher torque capacity then the 6L80 and is physically larger then the 6L80 and the 6L90 guts will not fit inside the C6's transmission case.
In order to use the 6L90 transmission in the C6, a new case would be required and since the 6L90 is ~1.4" longer then the 6L80, it might not fit in the C6. I doubt if the sales of a one year A6 427 convertible, a Z06 or a ZR1 would be high enough to warrant the development of the new transmission, new torque tube and prop shaft, especially if it won't fit in the C6.
