Process to Smog 2007 Z06 in California and Skip-Shift "Feature"
I need to know how the Skip-Shift "Feature" affects the Process to Smog my 2007 Z06 in California. I have "eliminated" it. Do I have to disconnect the plug-ins? According to the smog tech yesterday, as he smogged my Honda, he said the test was in 2nd gear. So can I leave it disabled? Is he right? I thought the skip-shift was to facilitate passing smog or was it to avoid the gas guzzler tax? Help please from someone that has already dealt with this. Thanks...

Update
According to the Bureau of Auto Repair for cars newer than 2000 in the summer of 2013 no more tailpipe sniffing and dynomometer. It will be totally plug into the OBD-II port emissions testing. So it is going to be a moot issue for my 2007. Nothing ever goes on schedule so I doubt I'll be "saved". Moreover, BAR explained that the tech is supposed to start out in second gear...

I thought that emissions goes along with including fuel economy now. That is why starting in 2013 anything effecting emissions or fuel trims will be illegal. The CARB wants it like it tested in factory period.

Whether it's an OBD2 plug-in test or even if they did a sniffer test for pollutants, disabling the annoying skip-shift feature via tuning or mechanical means shouldn't have any affect. As mentioned, the skip-shift feature was used for fuel economy to avoid the 'gas-guzzler' tax....not to improve emissions.

glenB,
Its really a thing the government is demanding because they can demand it.
Just as an FYI, the skip shift is a fuel economy standard, not an emission concern
