I am about to purchase my 8th Corvette since I was a young boy. I am s7rictly looking from 2005-2010. Not seeeking a Z06, just a regular coupe! Based on history which would be the very best year to buy?
Thanks much!
Lots of changes for the 08 year so I would start there unless money is an issue. Another thing to consider is if you get one still under the 3/36 warranty period you will have the option to extend the factory warranty. Lots of opinions on extended warranties, but these cars can be expensive to fix.
Avoid 05's. I would say 07-09. If your even considering a 2010 like I was just skip it and go with a 2011 or 2012 the incentives are ridiculous right now.
There is no "best" year to own. Refinements and changes are made with each model year but how important these changes are is often relative. For instance, having the LS3 engine may be more important to one person than another. Both are fine engines. Also, mechanical problems affect all model years. In general, I suggest you buy the newest model year possible.

I'd recommend to anyone to buy the newest model year you can. You do your 'homework' before buying any car but there's nothing inherently wrong with the 2005. It's obvious from all the posts here on the forum that mechanical problems happen to all model years. Problems including the so-called DBS and harmonic balancer issues are not limited to 2005's. My (modified) 2005 has been incredibly reliable and trouble free....a great car in all respects!
Starting in 2010, Launch Control is a standard feature (manual trans only).
Not saying it's good or bad. Might not matter to you. But it would bug me that a previous owner might've felt LC was an invitation to do frequent full-throttle launches.
Anyway, as a new feature, even a respectable dealer would want to test it. (Note: The C6 in the video below is said to be GM-owned.)
