If I was to get new tires today, I would go with the FS WO's.
You should take those positive reviews with grain of salt, though. In my opinion, no one who is serious about performance would consider these tires. However, they are excellent budget tires.

I replaced my original goodyears with the Firestone wide oval run flats. Very happy with these tires, and will buy again. I have a Z51, and the Firestones are fairly sticky, very quiet, and wear at least 2X better than the gy tires. Most people who say negative things about the Firestones have not owned them IMO.

I had one of thevFirestone tires plugged over a year ago at Allen Tire with no issues.

Just for the record, I owned a set of Wideovals which I used on our C5 Z06, and they were OK at the street

For the record, if I were doing track days I'd be looking at other tires. For the average person not tracking these tires are fine. I agree with your serious about performance statement if they are doing more than driving fast on the street and sliding around on a track trying to get a fast lap times.
