Several of my Corvette friends have purchased the Michelin a/s r/f and seem to like them. However they look a little funky and seem smaller than the Goodyears. I am leaning toward the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 R.F. for my 2006 C6. Has anyone else noticed the difference, and are the PS2'S actually wider than the A/S? Thanks.
Best thing, is going to the Tire Rack site, and check each tires specs. Doubt it's your imagination, as common for same number size tires to vary a bit from model or manufacturer.
I just replaced my Goodyear F1 Supercars with MichelinPS2 ZP, I notice that the michelins are more rounded where the tread meets the sidewall so they seem to look a bit smaller that the goodyears. Looks are deceiving because my car rides and handles great with the PS2's

you are splitting hairs here....... its the compound, belt package, shoulder stabilization, and tread design that make up the traction and handling, not that 3/4" width......in the tread surface.....just saying.

Yes the Michelin PS2 ZP's do look a little smaller, but you have to realize that the first number (ex: 345/30-R19) is not the tread width, it's the widest part of the tire. Michelins are slightly bowed out and will protect the wheel a little better than the GY's. JMHO
I can understand a few people that live in mountainous areas putting on AS, but for the other 95% it makes no sense, it is a performance car and tires are the number one thing for putting the performance to the road.

I hear ya cadguymark, but I went with the Michelin ZP AS tires on my 2008 for better cool temperature and wet weather predictability, because my vettes are daily drivers. It's scary to have virtually zero traction, when the day before you had tons of it.
With the Michelin AS tires, tt was nice to be able to take a curve at a decent speed when the temp was 40 degrees, or if there was a thunderstorm you didn't hydroplane.
You had to really push it hard to notice a performance difference.
I'll buy a set of all season tires for my 2011 Grand Sport if a tire mfgr. comes out with them in the correct sizes, for the same reasons.
It took me a few months to get used to the looks/fit of the Michs...But only a few miles to realize they are a major upgrade to the GY...And 8K miles later I still feel the same about Mich...

I have been looking T these tires too and can't make up my mind on which one. I push my car a little sometimes so traction is important. The GY have let go a few times with me I don't lie that feeling at all
Michelin will be my next tire but which one.
(I have a 08 C6 Z51)
We have 2 sets of wheels, Michelin PS2 runflats on one and A/S runflats on the other.
Both are somewhat quieter and softer than the Z51 Supercar tires they replaced, and breakaway at the limit is more predictible. Both seem to be wearing better than the Supercars.
If your car is a DD in climates where the temp gets below 40' very often, or you need a nice touring tire, the A/S works well. It also costs less and should last longer than the PS2, your cost per mile might be only half of the PS2.
But if you love attacking the corners on a nice day, the PS2 is better.
No such thing as a perfect tire...

now there is someone that used his nogin', especially since an extra set of wheels could be picked up for next to nothing from somebody going aftermaket or widebody
I have a set of PS2 ZP and the other is PS2 SS, different purpose, but same idea
for the guys with cup tires, yoy'd think it would be almost mandatory to have another set of wheels

Same here. I like the extra wear the A/S provides as well as the reduced price but it is a sports car after all. As I'm taking a 5K road trip this summer I was leaning towards the A/S due to the tread wear issue (A/S = 35K vs P/S = 20K) but ....
Jim, since you have both is it that big of difference with handling?

How big is big?
My comparisons always have some time between them, they aren't really back-to-back because of the time lag in switching the tires.
Any C6 handles very well, so the A/S won't turn it into a truck. For a DD or touring tire, I think they are quite satisfactory. But if you like to attack the twisties, you'll like the PS2's better.
Our member phillyeaglesfan had the A/S on his base coupe and didn't like them so much, so my opinion is not universal. But I think he lives in curvy country.
I've gone to the A/S and I really like them. I live in Nothern CA and it gets below 40* on a regular basis in the winter, plus I commute and sometime it rains, a lot. They're a 100% better than the GY's RF's that came stock. Much quieter, more grip and they're wearing very well after about 7,500 miles of spirited driving. I'd buy them again if given the choice. My friends PS2's wore too fast for my liking as well. GL.

Thanks for the info people! I will probably end up with the A/S.
Cold weather is one thing and rain another, the PS2 has phenomenal grip in rain/water situations, spring mountain had a demonstration one year with a Z06, Michelin and water...they work very well for a street tire in the wet
The Michelins do seem to be smaller than my Goodyears were.
I had Goodyear 325s in the rear and the sidewall was vertical and looked normal.
I replaced them with Michelin PS2 ZP 325s and they are too small for my wheel. The sidewall is stretched on the wheel.
I will replace them with 335s next time.
The Michelins are still so much better in every way than the GYs
REAR TIRE SIDEWALL IS STRETCHED
[FRONT TIRES LOOK NORMAL
Wow. That is great info
Thanks for the pics !
Normally, I'm not a fan of putting oversize tires on factory wheels, but that rear tire does look funny and I agree - I'd go 335's next time too. I have been following these tire threads so that when the time comes, I'll know what brand I want. And based on my research here, I was going to go with the Michelin PS2 runflats.
Can anyone provide pics of Michelin PS2 runflats on a "skinny body" C6 (i.e. with 285 size rear) ?
I don't want that look. Do they make a Michelin PS2 runflat in a 295 width ?
