Default Locking Lug nuts?

Hello, Viewed a thread of someones vette having its nice wheels stolen off the vehicle. Does anyone have locking lug nuts on their wheel? If so, any recomendations?....Thanks Dan

Gorilla Locks are the best but if they want your wheels they will still get them, it is just a deterrent

McGard and Gorilla are the most common and make decent wheel locks. You can get pretty good deals for either on Amazon. Can't remember off the top of my head the specific size (12mm x 1.5?), but I'm sure someone else can chime in with that.

Slows them down and keeps the amatur crooks away the pros can get past them if they want to bad enough. I have them on my car!

I have one locking lug per wheel. Honestly forget what brand...received from a friend who has about three of everything and did not need or want these.

I agree with the other posters however...they are a deterrent only to amateurs looking for an easy score. Sort of like the big barking dogs at my house. Someone scoping out my house will notice three big dogs. Hopefully they'll decide to go to my neighbor's house rather than risk the unknown of breaking into a house with large dogs inside.

And most times, if lucky a deterrent will send them off to another car.

Here in So. Cal they would likely take the whole car just for the wheels, happened to a friend with 24's on his Escalade some years back.

I have the GM locks. As others have said, they are a deterrent. Wont stop the folks who REALLY want them.

I am the unlucky guy with the rims stolen

I highly doubt they will stop someone, the guys that jacked mine were pros and I think it would just make them work a tad harder to get the rim.

If a thief wants it they will usually get it. Garage your Vettes guys, don't make my mistake

I much prefer the whole Gorilla lugnut (security) set than just one per wheel (McGard), and cost almost the same. And that's the only option if you have black wheels like me (CE). And I have to say they look different than the picture a few posts above. The ones for the Vette have the depressions on the entire upper part of the lugnuts. And the best news is although quite a bit smaller than stock, the lugnut cone covers the entire wheel cone (but barely). Just put something. And as long as you don't park your car in a dangerous place on a consistent basis (like an unsecured apartment complex), I would not worry one bit about wheel theft. But some folks with priorities mixed , buy expensive cars before a house, and are the victims of all kinds of vandalism.

Gorilla from Amazon.com on mine too. Did The System.

I know they are only a deterrent - but for 40 bucks it's a cheap investment against amateur perps.

Motion detecting alarms are the next step I suppose.
