Default Thoughts How much 2008 Corvette?

How much would you pay for a 2008 crystal red corvette 3lt with f55 magnetic ride suspension, npp exhaust, mn6, painted top, navigation, with 72,000 miles? Its at a dealer its a clean carfax and in very good condition. Or how much would you offer? Thanks for the input and sorry if this is in the wrong section move it if needed.

With that many miles, probably in the 25-26k range? I've seen 08s with ~60k miles asking 28k, but I think those were 1lt and 2lt with z51, not f55.

This time of year, I'd say $30k... plus/minus 10% depending on condition, accident history, # of owners, carfax, maintenance, use/abuse, location, etc etc.

I bet they're asking $34,995.

I'd keep looking. The miles are too high and the value of these cars, especially one at a dealer, is not adjusted well at all for the mileage. You're not going to find a nice deal on a Vette at a dealer unless you have a real friend there. If it is a cherry car it'd already be on hold for a friend of the dealer.

Corvette's aren't like normal cars. There are a ton of them out there with low mileage, 4-5k a year is probably closer to average if even that.

Keep looking and buy private party.

That's basically as loaded as you can get an 08. I'd say $28k to $30k probably. I know other people mention you can find one with low miles, but if you're going to drive it a bunch, does it really matter? The cars are made to go well past 100k miles.

You can find one with good miles for like 32-33 range, so I would say about 28-29k is what I would offer and see how close you are.

I bought my 8,500 mile '06 from a private party in a neighboring state after searching stealerships for several weeks. Looked through Cars.com and Autotrader.com for weeks as well until I found exactly what I wanted. The color, the option list, the low miles and it being a one-owner car were exactly everything I'd been looking for.

Stay away from dealerships. My experience taught me that they will almost never have a well-kept car at a reasonable price like a private party will.

Not always true. I looked for weeks from strictly private party. Then found a dealer that was an hour and half away and they had one with more options and less miles and less money than the individuals I found. Just depends on the dealer I guess

That's true.

Did you try to negotiate with the private sellers?

While you did better with a dealer, I'd venture to say that in general, there are better deals from private parties than from dealers.

Yeah I negotiated with private sellers but they were mostly pretty firm on their prices. And I agree with you, in general it's best to buy off of an individual that's why I didn't look for dealer listings until a few days ago lol. The good thing is dealers are at least motivated to sell, a lot of individuals aren't.

You don't mention where you are located but if you are in a four seasons area (snow) then dealer prices WILL be high now and low getting into August - September if it is a non-Chevrolet/Vette specialty dealer.

I basically looked through most of last spring and summer and kept watching deals even after buying, only reasonable dealer prices showed up late in the season. Non-Vette/Chevy dealers do not want a used Vette sitting around all winter.

I bought mine off the forums here. I lurked and lurked . . . and for good measure lurked some more for a long time on here. The best deals, by far, are from individuals on these forums. Once I found what I wanted I cross shopped autotrader, cars.com and craigslist and, honestly, I couldn't find anything like what I got within 4k-5k of what I paid. Heck, looking at the for sale forum now I still see several cars that (to me) I couldn't touch on the lots around me in terms of price, quality, condition and value.

Be patient and be ready. Have your funds ready, have time off available, have your significant other's permission and be ready to pull the trigger immediately.

Good luck!

Better to ask forgiveness than ask permission.

You can find good deals, I prob paid more than I should for ours but we bought it from the original owner, it was garages kept in a clmiate controlled garage, was pristine and only had 3100 miles on it.

my thoughts are COLight., borax., are correct. but if it were me (and it once was for a diff generation Vette), I'd do what sullie sez.

and imo, buying a car WITH high miles, vs. putting ON YOUR MILES is a big difference. one is your driving, and the other? who knows how they did it? how about a 1/4 mile at a time?

I looked aggressively on my own and had three dealerships (Indiana, Ohio, Michigan) that I had experience with looking as well for the better part of 3-4 months. Ended up going private party with a member here, actually took a flight to look at the car, fully prepared to fly back or drive back.

You should have no problem locating a nice deal in Texas but like anything else it is going to take some time. You should have auto searches setup in Autotrader, check the forum (place a wtb ad) and maybe Craigslist.

Though from my experience all the Craigslist Vette's were people asking way too much. Autotrader is probably the most useful for gauging your local market.

Don't be afraid to travel for the right car, a plane ticket is a fairly small cost for getting exactly what you want with such a large purchase.

With that many miles I would keep on looking but if you really want this particular Vette 27k would be my price.
