Thoughts How much 2008 Corvette?
I bet they're asking $34,995.
Corvette's aren't like normal cars. There are a ton of them out there with low mileage, 4-5k a year is probably closer to average if even that.
Keep looking and buy private party.

I bought my 8,500 mile '06 from a private party in a neighboring state after searching stealerships for several weeks. Looked through Cars.com and Autotrader.com for weeks as well until I found exactly what I wanted. The color, the option list, the low miles and it being a one-owner car were exactly everything I'd been looking for.
Stay away from dealerships. My experience taught me that they will almost never have a well-kept car at a reasonable price like a private party will.

Did you try to negotiate with the private sellers?
While you did better with a dealer, I'd venture to say that in general, there are better deals from private parties than from dealers.
I basically looked through most of last spring and summer and kept watching deals even after buying, only reasonable dealer prices showed up late in the season. Non-Vette/Chevy dealers do not want a used Vette sitting around all winter.
Be patient and be ready. Have your funds ready, have time off available, have your significant other's permission and be ready to pull the trigger immediately.
Good luck!

and imo, buying a car WITH high miles, vs. putting ON YOUR MILES is a big difference. one is your driving, and the other? who knows how they did it? how about a 1/4 mile at a time?
I looked aggressively on my own and had three dealerships (Indiana, Ohio, Michigan) that I had experience with looking as well for the better part of 3-4 months. Ended up going private party with a member here, actually took a flight to look at the car, fully prepared to fly back or drive back.
You should have no problem locating a nice deal in Texas but like anything else it is going to take some time. You should have auto searches setup in Autotrader, check the forum (place a wtb ad) and maybe Craigslist.
Though from my experience all the Craigslist Vette's were people asking way too much. Autotrader is probably the most useful for gauging your local market.
Don't be afraid to travel for the right car, a plane ticket is a fairly small cost for getting exactly what you want with such a large purchase.
