Default *****, buttons, and switches

The ***** etc on my Ford F350 are similar to the 2010 Vette which I bought last week. That is black ***** with white marking that appear to be paint or ink. The problem with the truck is that the ink is coming off the ***** that get used a lot. I am wondering if this is going to be a problem with the Vette and what folks are doing about it. At my shop we would apply varnish but that would look horrible.

Some people report problems, but our 2009 has 47k miles and the only wear is barely noticable on the steering wheel volume buttons where I hit them with my finger nail.

After the first start of each day, I run through all the DIC Fuel, Gauges, and Trip buttons; no visible wear.

The buttons and switches have held up very well on my '06. No problems or fading at all.

I could see how the switches on the steering wheel that get used a lot more than the others could fade/rub off a bit after several years use.

The ***** can be easily replaced but they don't have any paint to rub off.
