Default FOB controlling exterior lights? Anyone know how to disable this?

SKIP THIS PART!

My Window Valet seemed to be having a problem working. I determined that the FOB battery was getting a little weak so I changed it out.

Now the Window Valet works just fine.............with one problem. All of the lights come on when I roll the windows down and then go off when I roll the windows back up.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I pulled out the 'Window Valet' and reinserted it and that did not change anything.

My next step will be to unhook the car battery for a few minutes and see if that resets everything.

UPDATE:

Well, it does not have anything to do with the Window Valet. I took the Window Valet out and the FOB will still turn all of the exterior lights on if I press the UNLOCK button once. They turn off when I press the LOCK button.

Now I just have to figure out how to turn this feature off.

It sounds to me like you have Approach Lighting turned on in the vehicle personalization menu on the DIC.

Approach Lights: This option briefly turns on the parking lamps, the high-beam headlamps and the back-up lamps during low light periods when the keyless access transmitter is used to unlock the vehicle.
Press the OPTION button until APPROACH LIGHTS appears on the display, then press the RESET button to scroll through the following modes:
• OFF
• ON (default)
If you choose OFF, this option will turn off.
If you choose ON, the parking lamps, the high-beam headlamps, and the back-up lamps will come on
for 20 seconds during low light periods when all of the following occurs:
• You press the unlock button on the keyless access transmitter.
• Both of the doors are closed.
• The vehicle is off or in RAP.
The lamps remain on for 20 seconds or until a door
is opened, the lock button on the keyless access transmitter is pressed or the vehicle is no longer off or in RAP.
See Keyless Access System on page 3-5 for more information.
When the mode you want is selected, press the OPTION button to set your choice and advance to the next personal option.

Thanks Paul.

I thought it was probably something in the DIC setup. I just haven't had time to go out and go through the options yet.

Sounds like that is probably what it is.

I just don't know how it got switched on.

That also makes sense, it was last night.
