last night on the way home a logging truck got on the freeway in the Spring and a big chunk of bark fell off one of the logs. I swerved into the other lane to avoid the bark but still had a few pieces hit the front of my car. There was nothing I could have done to avoid this, I was at least 4 cars back from the truck and he was dropping bark all over the road. What this idiot was doing on I45 in the Woodlands area is a total mystery to me. About a mile from the house my niece tells me she smells something funny so when I get home I inspect the car for any damage and jack the car up to look for anything leaking. After a good half hour of checking things out I am satisfied that the car is fine. This morning I leave for work and notice I left my coffee cup sitting in the garage so I stop in the driveway to get it, on the way back to the car I see a small lake of transmission fluid under my car!! I ran over and shut the car off and found that the trans coolant line to my external trans cooler had burst. That piece of bark must have hit that line and damaged it. Forget the fact that I could have burned up my transmission if I would have driven the car, could you imagine what would have happened if all the fluid would have got under the tires at say 70mph on the freeway. This weekend it will all be replaced with braided hose and AN fittings so I never deal with this again.
How do you remove the front nose from the C6 coupe? It sprayed fluid all through the grill, around the fog light, etc. I want to take all that off and wash out everything.

If you have the name of the logging company can't you call them for the damages ? I know when a rock cracks your windshield people have called the trucks company .

These trucks are just dirty POS pulling a log trailer and if they have a license plate you are lucky. I had zero interest in being anywhere around him and the second I saw an opening I passed him two lanes over. This repair I want to do myself because I want to make sure everything is cleaned to my satisfaction and the hose is replaced with the correct material. I am thinking a pressure washer with blue Dawn should do the trick unless anyone else has a better idea.
All things considered it could have been worse. I'm glad it's something simple and you caught it when you did. I'd be especially mindful of any tranny fluid that srayed onto rubber hoses, lines, fittings, etc. As someone mentioned, I'd probably start with something like Dawn before going to a more aggressive cleaner/solvent. Good luck!
