For Talon...
Did you buy this car new? Are you the only owner?
It sounds like the first people you need to be on the phone with is CarFax and your insurance provider as they may have ways of dealing with this.

So far Carfax and Autocheck have not been able to tell me a thing after I submitted this form to both of them.
VIN: 1G1YY26W585114845
RECORD DATE: 05/01/2008
INCORRECT RECORD/INFORMATION: Accident reported
DETAILS: This car has never been in an accident. However, my dealer pulled up this carfax report for me and found this entry on here. The report says that no date was reported for some accident that occurred. It also says "Police accident reports are required in California when the estimated damage exceed $750. The date of this particular accident was not reported to CARFAX, but it likely occurred between May 2008 and May 2009." I have this car in storage most of the time and have only taken it out on very rare occasions typically just to be serviced.
DOCUMENTATION: In this case it is a lack of documentation that supports my request! I have contacted my insurance company, Geico, who confirmed that no accident was ever reported -- if a police report had to have been filed for any accident, they would also have a record of it and they do not show any reports of accidents. I would like to find out more information from Carfax who reported such an accident on my car, because it certainly was not me.
