At what age did you buy your first Corvette (MERGED)

At what age
We led parallel lives, if you have read through the post you probably read my story many times, first Vette at 19, a mint 63 roadster 327/300 hp, 4-speed. Cost me $800.00 and I hit the dragstrips every weekend, next a 63 split window, fuelie only 8 yrs. old with very low miles. I had $1,100.00 in this one and my younger Brother said I worried that I had too much in it because no one wanted a fuel injection car because no one new how to work on the Rochester units.
You picked the Corvette in a 427 convertible I hope it's not yellow I have a real weakness for yellow Vettes and I am envious when someone gets one. Are you going to be able to go to Bowling Greene to pick it up?
Thanks for the post.

In answer to Garrell...I picked up my 427 on election day, Nov. 6th. Bought it off the showroom floor so no museum pickup for me. I wish I had done all this a little sooner in the model year. I would love to have done the engine build experience and then watched the car being built at BG for a museum pickup. That would have been the ultimate experience!

I wouldn't be too let down, driving away from that dealership in that 427 Corvette convertible had to be some more of a high. How many times did you go out to the garage and just stare at it to make sure it wasn't a dream. Go ahead and tell me no ones reading a forum post this late, did you sit down in it and go booden boden? I won't tell honest Native American!

Bought my first Vette when I was around 25yrs old. Traded my '86 IROC Camaro on an '89 Corvette.
The love affair wore off quickly and I sold it after just one month. I thought it was the biggest piece of junk and swore I'd never buy another.
Finally, last year at age 44 I decided to try another Vette. Two of my younger brothers had already owned several C5's and C6's, the most recent being an '08 Z06. THAT car made me a believer in Corvette again and was the main reason I bought my car. I couldn't afford a C6Z, but I could swing a low-mileage '05... to which I have already dumped a bunch of money into.
Now that I have the performance close to where I want it... I have started gathering parts to do a Z06 widebody conversion.
I will have my "Z06" one way or another.

I can tell you have been there Garrell. Lol. Along with my fuelie being sold to get this 427, I also parted with my 1995 Acura NSX that I bought new in '95. My thought was that the driving emotion that I got from both cars could be satisfied with just the one 427. So far, I am not regretting the move and yes, I did indeed go to my garage door, open it and turn the light on just to admire the new addition. I did not get in and go "booden booden" though. As often as weather has allowed, I have just been driving the dickens out of it and enjoying every minute. Thanks, Paul

pmartjr, you just mentioned something I get called out for often. My black 98 C5 has never been driven in the rain or on messy roads. Now keep inmind that I was sick from 2005 and until limited times in 2011 I didn't even drive it. My Brothere and Brother in law took ten minute drives in it occassionally to circulate the fluids. But if you own three other, no four other vehickles counting my Wifes always dirty van why get the undercarriage dirty when you don't have too. If your Corvette is your daily driver different story but as long as the weather man is reasonaly close I will keep mine in the shop when the rain is predicted.

Safety Car
Age: 36
Car: 2007 C6 Coupe
Price: $25,500
I've had this car two years now and about the only regret I have is that I waited this long to get one. I have another two years of payments before its paid off.. already have serious thoughts about trading it for preowned '09 Cyber Grey Z06 or '14 C7 when that time comes.

My first one, 1967 coupe at 21, second a white 80 - at age 61. Still looking for the third, a 09 GT-1 - auto. The 67 coupe was only one yr old with 12,000 miles. Wish I had it back, 327/300, 4 speed am/fm. and a speed warning. Only options it had.

I purchased a 1966 big block 4-sp convertible w/hardtop in 1971, I was 21 yrs. old. My 2nd was a '74 coupe bought new that I discretely modded and held on to for ten years.
