I was interested in a back-up camera but now use the # 2 seat position to turn my mirrors in and down.

Works great to see parking stripes!

Or you could just try paying attention before and after you get the car.

Just saying.

In a Corvette front cams and rear cams are needed for parking.

I read somewhere that if you just try paying attention before and after you get the car they aren’t needed.

I don't have the memory package or nab, so I put a 2" convex mirror on the left side-mirror and a 3" one on the right. Allows me to see the sides and down to the ground ...

I went with an aftermarket head-unit for that exact reason. I had a back-up cam installed and i love it. When the vehicle is put into reverse, it shows on the screen and has a good field of vision. Of course you still need to look where you're going, but it does actually show what's directly behind your car. It's a really nice feature to have.

Got a back up camera because my 4 yr old daughter came out side through the front door and I was in the garage backing out. I almost ran over her. My heart literally jumped out of my chest I was soooo scared I went and bought a back up cam that day. Uses the same screws that the license plate use. I think it's a must for the c6.

For safety reasons that is a must-have for me. Would you provide details on brand, where to buy and/or get installed?

Thanks!

Cheers,
JB

Is this the set up from Amazon.com? I would love to have a camera for front too so I can see those curbs coming.
It will become federal law for all new cars to come equipped with rear cameras.

It is surprising we even need 3rd party backup cameras in a $50K+ car in 2012. The C6 should have had a mid-life interior update to add a better/bigger multifunction screen, backup camera and updated GPS. I expect these updates and more will appear in the C7. But since technology won't stand still, let's hope the Corvette engineers plan on mid-life electronics improvements during the C7 model run so it doesn't fall so far behind.

Cheers,
JB

JB and LS_Won... several brands make them. Mine is the BOYO VTX420 wireless cam. It is a fairly inexpensive mod (under $200 for the camera), but as you can see it looks great and adds another element for safety. You should be able to pick one up at your local audio/video customization shop or online. Just run a quick search on google. I know ebay carries them, but maybe even some of the vendors on the forum will also... Install is fairly easy as well. The reciever plugs into the back of your headunit and transmits a signal to and from the cam. Really cool stuff!

Hope that helps!

Most of the new vehicles comming out actually do have cameras...or an option to install one. Especially if it has a nav unit w/ screen in the dash. My mom's 2012 ML 350 Mercedes has it...so does my sis's 2012 C300 Mercedes... I actually have the same setup on my beater as well...

I would love to have a camera facing the front as well... my only question would be how would it be possible to show the feeds from two camera's at once? I'm not sure if my headunit has a split screen capability. BUT... it has been my experience that if you can dream of it, it can be done... I think im going to ask my installer if he has ever done it on antoher vehicle without having to install a second screen. That would be pretty cool IMO!

Very nice. Does the head unit have GPS too?

We have a backup camera on the Sorento and I really like it.
