It will scare the stuffing out of you the first time some piece of FOD blows out of the hatch area. I work in IT and occasionally throw a few extra short computer network cables (in plastic bags) in the back of the car...and then of course I forget they are back there. Cruise home with the top off....and it wakes you up quick when one of those starts fluttering, then flies right by your face.

The passenger seat belt will flutter above like 50....but simply buckling it over the empty seat solves that problem!

The coupe is great....can be a vert (kinda sorta) when you want it....but also a great hardtop, with some storage in the back.

Lowering windows to reduce cabin turbulence & seatbelt buckling to reduce belt flapping...great advice.

My wife and I take the top off our coupe as much as possible, whether crusing on back roads or along Highway 85 in GA at 75mph... it has thus far never bothered us...

Also the other day I called my mom up on the way home, top off, using the car bluetooth audio through my phone, and neither of us ever had a difficult time understanding each other, speeds were up to 55ish...

Yeah, there's really not much of a problem at say, 50-55 MPH or less. Above that, it gets a bit busy.

VERY noisy and a lot of turbulence over 60mph with the top off.
A simple manual vent in the rear would be most welcome to release the pressure for when the top is off. ARE YOU LISTENING GM????

OTOH, simple noise, especially from the tires (even though I have Michelins) is the most annoying factor, and I don't think that would be different on a vert. On long road trips with the top off, I too use earplugs. Don't laugh, they make a huge difference.

For me, the transparent top is so much nicer than an opaque top like the vert, I considered it an easy choice. And then there's the roll-over issue...
If you roll a coupe or a vert, I would suggest the results will be comparable.....not good

If the weather is nice, especially at night I will cruise with the top off at speeds around 45-65mph. You do hear wind, but you don't really notice and its really not that bad. Plus its a great feeling with all the wind and open air around you it makes the drive that much more fun.

BTW...I'll have to second the hands free comment. I've used the hands free bluetooth to my iPhone at freeway speeds many times....now I know I'm probably shouting, but I've offered to call the wife back when it wasn't so loud, and she's always said, I can hear you fine. I'm amazed that it works so well.....and I'm in a coupe...windows all the way down when the top is off.

LOL, fortunately haven't seen this in real life and hope I never do.

And yes, it is noisy. If I'm not idling down a quiet and shadowy parkway, the top stays on.

The coupe's steel 'B' pillar is securely attached to the space frame and is a very effective roll bar. Most tracks won't let you run a vert without an aftermarket roll bar installed, but they recognize that the coupe's 'B' pillar is a roll bar and do not require an additional bar be installed inside the car..

Check the rules for events like the Texas Big Bend event.

I have the top off as much as possible and find how far up or down the windows are, plays a big roll in how much wind noise/buffeting there is.
At 50 MPH or less, it's great if the windows are up only about 1/4 of the way.
It helps deflects a lot of the wind from entering the back of the storage area compared to all the way down.
Highway driving at 70 MPH or more, then I put the windows up 3/4 of the way and there is minimal wind and buffeting considering the speed.
I've tried the windows all the way up on the highway and IMO it's better when the windows are at 3/4 of the way up.
One exception is, if I'm going to be on the highway for a long period of time, I just put the top on.
Otherwise I don't find it that bad all things considered.
Just my 2 cents and what I experience

Even a full cage can get flattened in some accidents. But the coupe has the same strong w/s frame as the vert, plus the B-pillar/halo.

When one of the car mags was doing a recent test on various models of Corvettes, GM (who knows more about the car than we do) gave them verts to experience, but made them use coupes for the track testing.
