Bringing the car in to the dealer tomorrow for new tires and went to get something out of the car and neither of the key fobs could open the door. Had the car completely gone through by my local chevy dealer on Saturday and went on a long drive Sunday with no issues.
Battery is definitely as dead as a can be, went to hook up my CTEK Multi US 3300 Charger to it and it just went into standby mode rather than the maintenance Charge mode which it would if the battery had any life left. Hooked it up to charge the battery and every time it pulsed to the battery the horn would go on and off. Ended up hooking up my Battery Tender Plus and the horn stopped beeping. Only thing I can guess is the battery tender plus only puts out 1.5 Amps I believe while the CTEC can output up to 3.3A max.
Noticed the glove box was open for some reason, that's probably what killed the battery. Hope I can get it charged or do you guys think the battery is now trash..... Figured I'll leave the Battery tender on for a couple of hours then switch to the CTEK and see if the horn still beeps.
I left my tender hooked up for 4 hours and the car started after that.Did you make sure you didn't trigger the alarm somehow which in turn shut down the car???If you charge the battery and the car starts see if it holds the charge over a day or 3.If it does you should be fine,if not then new battery time. Not knowing how old the battery in there now is leaves one to guess on a few things. If you have an 05 with the original battery, then yea, probably new battery time.
IIRC, the glove box light is on a 20 minute timer like the other lights.
If so, then it shouldn't kill your battery unless the battery was almost dead already.
My alarm went off one time when i tried to jump it. I belive the car thought the door should have been shut then it got power form the other car and set the alarm off. Just a thought.

hook it up to a real charger, no way either of the maintainers can get the job done. A maintainer is just it, it maintains your battery only.

My 05 made in 04 has the original battery in it and it is still pushing out the correct amount of CCA per battery load test. As of a month ago I just started to put it on a tender CARTEK 3300. Makes me wonder that by not ordering all of those other electrical options like HUD, power seat reminder, tilt telescope, compass and whatever else helped battery life.
I have several batteries around here, and just thought it best buying decent equipment. Have two Ctek 3300 maintainers, and a Midtronics 200 conductance tester. Not the cheapest stuff, but helps tell you what's really going on. I also, just replace the cars' battery every 4 years, whether it needs to or not.

That may have helped, but it seems like you are at the point where a 7 year old battery could fail at any time. You might want to replace it now on your schedule rather than waiting for it to go out at the worst possible time.

Thanks for that advice. It past the battery test 650 CCA. I do carry a jumper machine in car to jump start if necessary.
Funny follow up (At least I'll pretend it's funny): Purchased a new Duralast Gold (8 year battery) from AutoZone and installed it this past Sunday so I could get the car to the dealership on Monday for tires.
Installed, car started , dropped off Monday. Due to one reason or another car couldn't get done until Tuesday, dealer calls tuesday A.M. says battery is totally dead. States after a 2 Hr. charge only read 5 Volts, told them to install a Delco Battery they tested the current draw of the car approx. 50 mA slightly higher than normal and re-checked the charging system and disconnected all the fuses one at a time to see if any one circuit was causing a problem. Everything checked out brought battery back to auto zone with printout on my receipt showing battery was defective, asked for a refund and was told "We don't usually do this" ??? Huh!!! After pointing to the proof of the defective battery with a slight attitude I got my refund. Told the worker they should pay for half the labor hours on the battery because I'm sure more than 1/2 the time was to re-validate the car didn't damage the battery and check the charging system. In the end I lost money
A co-worker told me he heard from a dealer who sells interstate batteries that the plates on the Duralast are thin and are known to break and fall to the bottom of the battery if they see any physical shock at all. Anyone else hear this??
I would have bought an Optima battery but it was special order so I had to get what was supposedly the next best thing.

I found out my glove box light was on so it would drain the battery dead within 7 hours. I parked it in my dark garage in the dark and there I saw the light on inside the glove box. For some reason the dealership couldn't find it It was a Ford dealership.
But before finding this light problem didn't know what was draining the battery.

Will one of those Megatron Interstate batteries fit into Corvette?
I left my Z06 parked for 5 months. I had the float charger on it but forgot to plug the float charger into the wall socket.
battery was dead as a door stop and it took me quite a while to get it to charge. Once I did, I pulled the car out in the driveway, removed the battery, ran to AutoZone( in my DD) and purchased a new one.
$113 for a 8 year warranty 90DLG is well worth it if it means I won't end up with a dead car parked in a motel lot on a Sunday morning hundreds from home.
