Default C6 Conundrum

Alright, first off, I'm sorry. I know these threads get old and I swore I'd never do one, but you people who I've never met are the only ones who can really tell me some good un-biased advice.

I recently came across the opportunity to trade my 2011 C6 Coupe for a still new 2011 ZR1.

It is the same color, so most people in my office won't realize I bought double the car, which is good. My wife says it is stupid because 9/10 times despite allergies and wind turbulence I take the top off the coupe to drive it. I obviously want the ZR1 for its insane power (although I've never even been to a track) and that I love all the exterior improvements over the base car and even the z06. It is also a 3ZR which provides much nicer interior trim and options than my 2LT.

I know at the end of the day it's my money and my choice, but any feedback one way or another would be appreciated. I love my C6, but have lusted after the ZR1's since their debut: and because this one is the right price, and the numbers do make since for me I'm really thinking about making it a reality. Also, I'd like to note, other than during winter weather events, this will be my dd: I'm not sure there are many daily zr1 drivers but I figure it has a 100k/60mos power train warranty for a reason right.

Thanks ahead of time for your input.

Why wouldn't you is the question. Lol
That said, I wouldn't drive any Corvette during winter months in the northeast. Not sure where you live, using the mobile version of forum right now.

Dude, DO IT!
I think knowing you are driving a car that could blow most ANYTHING else out there into the weeds will make up for the fact that the roof doesn't come off.

I like your comment about it being the same color, and most of your co-workers not noticing. Stealthy, I like it.
The few that are into cars will notice, and that will be cool.

DD'ing it?!
I respect that. I drive my 2006 coupe every day to work.
I love my car, and the drive to and from work is the best part of my day!

Don't pass up this opportunity.

Post pics, please, if you do.

If you can afford it & want the ZR1 over your 2LT, do it. I would.

Nothing wrong with driving it daily. I think I am going to start driving mine in the rain. However, I still will never drive it in snow or when salt is on the road.

First off, you'll never get an "unbiased" opinion here on the forum.

More to the point, if you really want the ZR1 and you're spending your own money and you can comfortably afford it....buy it!

Umm, where are you? I will make that trade if you don't. My vette is my DD and will be my only car for a long time. I would do the same if it was a z06 or ZR1... Not to mention the insane jump in the car's value over your base... There is nothing to lose.

Also, just fyi... I hate you.

Edit: that was mean... I don't hate you... I just don't like you!!!

Edit: that was mean too... Just trade me the ZR1 and we call it even

Yeah, tough decision........ Removable top or the car that I lust for.....

I say go for it if you can afford it. The ZR1 is an icon. While I have never driven one, I would love to drive it just once.

While many may not notice the difference between the ZR1 and the base Corvette, I assure you that I would see it in your work parking lot within minutes. Enthusiast have built in radar for that kind of stuff.

Enjoy it and post pictures please

OMG
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT!!!
Life is too short---It sounds like you have the Wife on Board and Finances are in order-you will LOVE the ZR!People WILL notice the difference when they see that hood, wide body, big tires, wheels etc. Not sure I would use mine as a DD but they do handle very nice driving around Good luck and report back with pics of your NEW baby

You live exactly once. If you can afford the upgrade by all means do so. I was not going to buy mine at all, but my 70something father told me not to wait....he wanted one all his life and never got around to it until it would no longer be fun for him anyway.

How about both? Only another $11k for a proper targa conversion. Not sure what warranty stuff that would affect though...

As a daily driver, it will be more costly to maintain (tires and brakes).

Big difference over a C6 base vette. Plus, it will use more fuel.

And, that low front carbon fiber front spoiler scared me. I knew I would break it at least once.

BUT, if I could have afforded it, I would be in a ZR1 now as a daily driver.

I donno, I'd give it some hard thought. Will you really be able to use the extra power the way you drive the car? Will you miss the open air feel? Will having all the power (that you can't really use off the track) compensate for not removing the top. If I had the same choice, under the same conditions, I believe I'd stay this what I had.

But I'm not you...
