I am looking into buying my first vette. It looks like it will be a 2013 grand sport 6spd manual. The salesman cant answer this question so I'm hoping somebody knows. Is there anyway to turn off or disable the daytime driving lights. I just hate them. To me they look like orange bug eyes.

They come on when the car is started. To turn them off, just rotate the switch on the turn signal stalk to off. They will remain off for the duration of the ignition cycle but you would need to do this every time you start the car.
Honestly, you can't see them from inside the cockpit and you will forget about them once you take the first drive. They do make a rather low car more visible to other motorists and that's not a bad thing.
Turn the light stalk past Auto. The DRLs will go off. You will have to do this wenever you start your car. To turn them off permanently, something you might want to delay to think about it, search the forum. Not a bad idea to have then on in low light conditions or around other drivers who may not see you otherwise.
Don't let that stop you. Just change them to White/Amber LED switchbacks like many of us did and problem solved. The only time they are amber is when the directionals are on. It is a relatively easy fix.
Because the placement of the lights is different (up and out) than most other cars, I think the DRL's make it more obvious that a Corvette is coming towards you so you can prepare to wave.

actually, I don't like them on. but seriously folks, do you think maybe your salesperson might be the wrong person to get a car from? it's difficult to know what else he doesn't know. there are alternatives to him,.....
Before you buy - and you SHOULD buy DRL's notwithstanding - be sure to check prices with all Forum dealers. MacMulkin is where I got my GS and they had incredible deals. Other Forum members had equally good results with other Forum dealers.
Good luck and be sure to post pics when you get the Vette!

You can do whatever makes you happy, but the DRL's are a very good safety feature. Anything that makes the car more visible to other drivers is a good thing in my book.
