Default Strange Problem..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two friends with C6s are stuck at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dublin off of 580 and Hacienda.
Here is what happened.
Friend #1 called Friend#2 saying his DIC said his FOB wasn't working so he installed a new battery in the FOB so it didn't work.
So he called Friend #2. Friend #2 went out to help thinking by disconnecting friend#1's battery for a minute and reconnecting that it would reset the computer...it didn't work.

Now here is the STRANGE part.
Friend #2's car won't start and he is receiving the same message on his DIC.
Both cars are parked under a canopee.
So we are thinking maybe the canopee is blocking the signal from the FOBs.
Has anyone had this problem from parking in a certain location causing transmission blockage for the FOB?
BTW they can't communicate with ON STAR either...

One person recommended to insert the FOB key in the key slot in the glove box.
That slot says it's to turn the passenger air bag off...will this work??

Yes, there is a slot for the key in the glove box, left side. Usually used when the fob is not working properly.

Put the fob in the slot with the buttons facing the passenger door.

This is used when the fob battery is dead or there is some outside RF interference that's preventing the car from communicating with the fob.

If things return to normal in a different location, then it's a good chance that there was some interference.

google "315MHz" (fob RF transmission frequency) if you want info on what is out there than can affect the fob/car.

Maybe a dumb question from me, but if you can get in the car, couldn't you put it in neutral and push it out from under the canopy to see if that works?
