Several years ago I was driving through the main gate of Hickam Air Base in Hawaii when I was pulled over by a security policeman.
SP: Do you know you were speeding?
ME: Yes.
SP Why were you speeding?
ME: I have to get home.
SP: Why?
ME: I am missing the season finale of Star Trek the Next Generation.
SP: Well, I can understand that. Have a good day
While trying to get through a yellow light I "accidentally" drifted around a turn of a four lane intersection... that that cop was sitting at... he wasn't visible until mid-drift I pulled over before he even had a chance to get his car out of traffic and turned around. The LEO asked if I knew why I got pulled over, two which I replied, "I have a pretty darn good idea." I got a ticket for violating a local "peel & squeal" ordinance instead of wreckless op. That was a quality $120.... NO POINTS ON LICENSE
btw it wasn't so much a drift as it was significant lift throttle oversteer

That's too bad. Knowing what a d-bag you happen to be I would have written you for the full monty. Oh well, there is always next time to catch that karma train, it's a coming.

I agree. I keep it in track mode 2, and I've actually gotten used to it being my primary / go-to display for speed. But I absolutely cannot get used to looking at the tach on the windshield. Unless I'm cruising I'm not typically interested in my speed, so obviously the tach is my most utilized gauge.
I got pulled over in my first Vette once. I was going around a turn in a 35mph zone (that they later turned to a 25mph) going somewhere between 25-30 (if you go above 30 on this turn, you're going in the ditch, even in a Vette, the road curves towards the ditch and is very very narrow). Cop put on his lights long before I had even exited the turn. I slow down thinking he has to go, but he just waits until I roll by and stops me. "Do you know why I stopped you?" I said no, sir, and he said "You were going 42 and accelerating". I respectfully told him that couldn't be and that I was going somewhere between 25 and 30. He said "Do you know what the speed limit is?" I said yes, sir, it's 35mph. He walks back to his car, I get a ticket. In court, the cop said I was going 47 and accelerating (5mph more than he told me), which I corrected to the judge (respectfully) saying that he said I was going 42, but that I was actually going between 25-30, which was under the 35mph speed limit. Judge didn't care, but reduced it to "defective equipment". Two days later, the speed limit was changed to 25mph.
Sometimes, it doesn't really matter if you have a respectful attitude if the cop is having a bad day/bad week/just lies in general.

Couldn't agree more. A few years ago I was fighting a speeding ticket. Before me on the docket was an airman (I think he was a pilot) who was cited for wreckless op because a cop said he spun his corvette's tires and slid his back end around a turn. It was a rural road, no other people around etc. The airman testified that in no way did he lose control of the car, or did it slide even 1 inch. Unfortunately he testified at the arraignment which meant he pleaded "No Contest," and the judge quickly convicted him of Wreckless Op. The poor guy had no clue he could have bargained with the prosecuter, or plead innocent and received a trial. I live in a military town and I was actually shocked at the harshness of the prosecuter / judge on a young pilot who didn't have a single blemish on his record.
Like you said, maybe the cop was having a bad day???
