Default C6 Fluids

I have a 06 Vert and 09 Z06. I routinely change out the clutch fluid with GM Dot 4. Do you guys use synthetic fluids for clutch and brake? And, do you guys change out power steering fluids, etc? Synthetic?

Is the GM Dot 4 (that I use in the Z06 clutch) OK to use in the 06 Vert Brake Fluid (Dot 3)???

Thanks

I had the PS, A6 tranny, and dif fluids changed at about 10k just to eliminate any manufacturing/breakin crud. Used the normal GM fluids for all. I think those may be synthetic anyway.

I get the brake fluid flushed each year and used the GM DOT4, no problems. It is said that DOT4 actually absorbs water a little quicker than DOT3, but with a yearly flush I don't expect any problems. For HPDE track use, I'd do it within a week of each event.

IMO there are many decent clutch/brake fluids including the GM fluid. For the rigors of track use I use Motul 600 for both clutch and brakes. It's a high performance synthetic brake fluid, with high boiling points, which (per the manufacturer) exceeds DOT 4 standards. I'm no expert but it's a favorite amongst racers and it seems to perform well for me.

GM recommends DOT 3 for the brakes, thus AMSOIL's corporate recommendation is to follow GM's recommendation, thus DOT 3. That said, at the track I have been using DOT 4 in my brakes for about a decade now. I also use AMSOIL's synthetic power steering fluid in mine at the track.

AMSOIL Series 500 High Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid (Product Code BF3SN)
Dry Boiling Point - 525F, Wet Boiling Point - 313F
AMSOIL Series 600 DOT 4 Racing Brake Fluid (Product Code BF4SN)
Dry Boiling Point - 580F, Wet Boiling Point - 410F
AMSOIL Synthetic Power Steering Fluid (Product Code PSFCN)

More than happy to get AMSOIL products for forum members at dealer wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.
