Well some on CF are "Enthusiast's while others are "Owner's". The Enthusiast's stay even if they don't own and the Owner's leave after they are Vette less....it's as simple as that.
Yeah....that makes sense! It probably is as simple as all that.
Isn't the question, why do members post the big "goodbye" thread (and usually show us the car they have bought to replace the vette)
I think some people are thinking the question is why do people stop posting when they sell the Corvette.
What exactly are you asking OP?

I have noticed that many CF members say "good bye" to the forum when they sell or trade their Corvette. Some of us who no longer own a Corvette, but have the passion for these cars stick around and stay active. I for one, am one of those people who has loved Corvettes since I first saw one on the Route 66 TV series when I was 9 years old.
I had my first one at age 18 and my 30th at 58. Being newly retired, divorced, etc etc.....I am presently without a Corvette because of financial and practicality reasons. I will sometime hopefully have another, but in the meantime...I'll stick around.
Supersonic GS you will be back soon with # 31 a nice USED C6 VERT SOON I can feel it in my bones!
I'm sure there are different reasons for their posts. Some are car guys that happen to have a Corvette, some are showing off a new car, and some have a sense of community with fellow forum members. I agree, you don't need to own a Corvette to appreciate the Corvette or the forum. Many join before they own a Corvette, no reason to leave if you had to sell.....
That would be me. I sold my Corvette and posted a thread about it (but did not say "good bye"). Two months later I bought a new daily driver and did post a thread about it. I did it because I'm a huge car nut and I think there are many others on this forum who would be interested in what I bought and after ten years and over 23,000 posts on this forum I figured I had a few friends here who would be interested. Was I bragging a little? You decide.

As for those who post up what their next ride is, what do you think would be the next question out of the next, or any poster's pen/computer?
"So, you sold the Vette; what car did you get to replace it?" Right?
And here are the other good reasons you posted up, Jim.

I posted a thread like that, only I made it clear I would be back soon. Soon ended up being about 5 months, that's all I could tolerate in my Camaro SS. I will never be without a Vette again, even if it means driving my current C6 till I drop dead. I had an 08 Coupe, and an 08 Z06, figured I'd try out the Camaro...Mistake.
JLB768, I made the same mistake as you except I chose a Nissan 370Z. After owning 5 vette's I thought I needed a change so I traded in my 09 Z06 for a loaded 2012 370Z. Although the Nissan was nice, I knew within a week that I made a big mistake. So this past weekend, 4 months later, I picked up vette #6 from Criswell Chevrolet. It was a very expensive mistake that I hope to never make again. Hope someone else on the forum can learn from my mistake.
A real car guy/gal never actually leaves. They might migrate in and out of different groups and forums, but once a real car guy, you're that way for life.
