..... you NEVER purchase the first year of a fully redesigned or new model of anything, especially a high performance vehicle. The headaches of recalls, problems, design flaws, parts and manufacturing issues will leave you kicking yourself. The C7, like each of the C cars before it, will be a 6, 7, 8 year run before the C8 is introduced....... Keep your 08', or trade up to the 13' GS and drive it for the next 2 - 3 years, then buy the C7 in its second or third model year after all the bugs are worked out and its a perfect machine. Just look at the 2005/2006 C6s and the issues and style/options that were fixed and changed in 2008/2009. NEVER buy the first model year of anything.

I know, it does not sound logical, but when you actually think of it, its the best time to buy the car lol. The manufacturer has had the past 5..6..7 years to perfect the vehicle. The last year is always the most solid, optioned, well built and engineered model year. And for me, it allows 3 or 4 years for the new model to be perfected. I know some people just want to be the first to have the new redesigned model; but for me I rather have a solid vehicle and not deal with all the issues. I also drive my sport cars as daily drivers. To each there own!

I have to chime in here since i just did the exact same thing. If you intend on getting a C7 3 years down the road, you can bet that a 13 GS coupe will be worth at least 12K more than a 2008 Coupe (if not a little more), so in 3 years, the car is costing you 10K to drive. Plus - did you need tires on your 08? that's another 2K...
Just my 2 cents - you know what my advice would be....

I was going to wait for the C7 but I found a 2012 GS Centennial with 0% financing. I traded in my 2006 z51 and haven't looked back. Sounds like yours is nicer than mine so that makes the decision a little more difficult for you.

Would I replace an 08 coupe with a 13 GS for the $22,900 difference? YES.
That's five model years for an about 6K or more higher priced car at least if comparably equipped with your 08 which seems to the case. Subtracting the 6K from the 22.9K to allow for the upgrade would give a 16.9K difference which is less than $3,500 a model year (less than $300 mo.) for an even trade. There are many, many, many more coupes out there than GS coupes. Those who say its not much of difference between the two, well I respectfully disagree. I've had three prior coupes and now a GS. Have I thought about, yes, and I'd go for it, but that's me.
Good luck with your decision.

I can comfortably floor the Grand Sport just about any time, and not worry about going sideways at the wrong time. The stopping is unreal too, the Grand Sport has bruised women's chests with the seat belt when stopping fast, and saved a ticket or two I'm sure.
6 speed shifting is a lot smoother, due to transmission improvements over the years.
Plus the bluetooth is great for cell phone calling and hands free texting is nice. Launch control is a lot of fun too.
That's what I like best between the two.
You could modify the '08, but it is nice to get a package fully warranted, etc.

I would have to wait and see the C7 before spending that much money on a model that is pretty close to what you have.
As for the people that say do not buy a C7 until the bugs are worked out, this is just plain old crazy. Actually it is BS.
Anyhow back to your question the money part of the deal is pretty good, if that is what you want to do.

Thanks for all the replies. I did drive my brother's '11 GS before and I do think it is worth the money. However I am worried about how much value 08' will lose vs '13 GS will lose when C7 comes out.
My current plan is to wait for C7 to come out and then buy 2013 GS. However, my plans can change quickly if 2013 GS starts to go for even cheaper.

$22,900 difference is a good deal, but you never posted the sticker for the 2013, or its options. I wouldn't do it unless it's a GREAT deal. And that depends if the GS has dual roofs, NPP, full-length spoiler, painted calipers, contrasting stitching, F55, car cover, battery charger, etc. Or at least a good combination of whatever of those options you actually like. Anything less than 10 grand MSRP reduction (WITHOUT the $3K you're entitled to for being a current Vette owner, so $13K MSRP reduction minimum) wouldn't be a great deal in my book . Good luck.
