Do most replace tpms sensors as they go out or do you replace them all at the same time. My right front got the xx and service tire monitor warning. I have an 06 model. Also does this automatically put car in limp mode?
I recently switched out a front wheel to diagnose a wheel balance problem. I got the warning light, DIC message and XX but had no issues with going 80 mph on the highway. We need a definitive answer from Bob, BEZ06, but I had no limp mode on mine. It may be different if the sensor is saying low pressure or flat vs no reading at all.

IIRC, he has said that the car will let you drive fast in a straight line, but the AH/TC get exteremely intrusive the moment you start doing a turn.
Have you been able to experiment with that aspect?

The expectd life of the sensors is ~10 years, and I'm guessing that would be a total of ~100k miles.
I hate having to do unscheduled maintenance when we are on a road trip, so I plan to replace all the sensors at the first tire change after 5 yrs or 50k miles. That might be as late as about 7 yrs/70k miles, depending on when that set of tires needs replaement.
If one failed before 5/50, I would replace just the one.
Hard to say how many sensors are failing, as my brothers Cadillac CTS had one go when the car was only a couple months old. Verified it was the sensor, not the car, as scanned it with my Bartech reset tool. Dealer replaced it under warranty, and been fine ever since. In your case, think it would be a price thing. If the tire dealer doesn't charge you much more to do all four, then probably just go that route.

I haven't....most of my driving is at 80mph on the highway. I did not try turning off the AH or going into comp mode though...the system may have disallowed it.

It will not go into competition mode and you can not turn traction control off.
\Add: I see '06....their supposed to go 10 years, so some will go 6-8, some 10-11 and some only 5.
Since their six years old, I would rplace all four and no more issues. I had to change out my Yukon and had issues because they (Discount Tire) bought the cheap aftermarkets and every six-eight weeks one would fail. Finally they ordered all new GM sensors and issues stopped.
BEZ06 has said that usually round number to replace is 7-8 years and batteries in them start to get weak.

I have. Mine has gone xx on the left rear three times now. The last time it did I attempted to take a fast corner and the TC got in the way. It felt like the left front brake came on twice, like I'd stabbed the pedal in mid corner but only on one side. Straight and level seemed normal.

I've mentioned this before....like an idiot I once went onto a track knowing one TPS was not registered and functioning. It was dangerous IMO....I expected the car to behave a certain way and it did something radically different. I'm not sure (with one bad TPS) if the system steps-up the level of intervention but it seemed that way to me. With one bad sensor comp mode is not an option.

The system acts if there is zero pressure in one of the tires and wants to reduce speed to 55 or somewhere near that.
