I recommend that you consider aftermarket lug nuts. I found the GM ones are crap. My quality sockets do not fit them correctly and they look like crap after just a couple of wheel removals. I bought a set of McGard lug nuts and they have held up perfectly. Whatever you do, don't go cheap and buy some Chinese crapulance.

Did you use the McGard 64002 or 64012?

Actually I got the McGard 65357 Chrome Cone Seat SplineDrive Lug Nut Set (M12 x 1.5 Thread Size) - Set of 4 and McGard 65557 Chrome SplineDrive Wheel Installation Kit (M12 x 1.5 Thread Size) - For 5 Lug Wheels. So the four extra wheel locks I did not end up using. I think Amazon had them cheapest at that time.

You lost me. You bought a set of four and you had four extra wheel locks you ended up not using?

I'm only interested in replacing my bunged up lug nuts(20) with new ones, so I'll not be using the splinedrive. I read McGards site as they come four to package so I'll need five packages to get the 20 lug nuts needed.

I see that Jegs has the 64002 for $9.99(package of 4?) plus $9.99 handling on the order(free shipping), total of $59.99 and they have the 64012 for $12.99(package of four?) plus $9.99 handing, total of $74.94. It appears that the only diffence between the two is the upper diameter of the cone plus the size of the hex.

This is from an email to McGuard

Hi

Can you tell me what part number lug nut set (5 per wheel) I need for a 2012 Corvette Grand Sport with Chrome wheels I need? I cannot find it on your web site.

And their answer

If you are using the OEM Chevy alloy wheels you may use lug nut p/n 64012 (4-pack)

Thanks,

I have a set (Like New) that was taken off 1 month after I bought my car and replaced with Black lugs.
You can have them, just pay shipping. I will ship to you with shipping receipt and just send a check back.

Since I change all 4 wheels every race day, my OEM lugnuts didn't fare too well. After checking with my GM parts supplier and finding my wholesale price was in the $5 each range, I shopped around.
I bought 20 lugnuts that are solid (not hollow) and chrome plated for $15.95 shipped. They look much nicer than OEM.
I also bought 24 from a different supplier that are open end (plain) to use on the race wheels that easily identify full thread engagement for $15.44 shipped.
Neither set was poor quality, nor could the country of origin be identified.

I see that you are all set with your lugs now but the lug nuts should be part number 9595165 in case anyone else is looking.

Thanks Paul.

Checked Parts Taxi and I see GM is very proud of them, to the tune of $7.41 each. Ouch.

Instead of buying gold, I think investing in lug nuts is the way to go.

I would not have guessed that a "lug nut" thread would have this many different answers. Good info and good people on here.
