I fold them when I dry the car. Helps with the endless drip!

I don't think so. I fold mine whenever the car's going to sit awhile and I push the car to the far side of the garage. You do have to pick up on them a little as you push them toward the back (at least, it works best on mine to do it that way).

Thanks for the input, I didn't want to damage them on the first go around.

"07 Coupe side mirrors fold and unfold by hand and the '96 Impreza sedan side mirrors fold and unfold by hand but the '11 BMW X3 35i side mirrors fold by pushbutton and auto-unfold at low forward speed, it's sooooo smart, the smartest one in the fleet.

forward or back the fold nice. I do it all the time when washing the car. Helps get the water out so I don't get drips.

My 05 mirrors will snap back into place when I accidentally bump into them when I walk down the side of the car in the garage. If you look on the bottom of them, they should pop back into place. But I don't want to do it too many times. They will probably loosen.

As for having auto fold mirrors ............... That's just one more motor in the door to add weight that the car doesn't need, burn out or, have electrical gremlin issues. Jus say'n !
