I used to install car stereo's, alarms, and car phones (brain under the seat, massive handheld mounted to the dash ) from 1983-94. Crimestopper used to sell an alarm called the PageAlert, as long as you were within a specific range, the pager would alert to a broken window, door opening, or motion/shock. I had a 1955 VW Oval I had restored, and had the pagealert in it. It saved that little beetle 4 times, I'd keep the siren shut off, and page on, because I wanted to catch the bastards. The final attempt was at 2am, a truck pulled up next to the driverside, the drivers buddy popped the rear quarter window, and was in the back seat, headed up front when I came out the door with a 12ga. The guy in the backseat, bailed into the bed of the truck, and they headed off down the road with no lights on. Cops showed up 2 hours later, and I sold it three months after, before it disappeared on me. Don't know it they sill make paging systems, but wouldn't be a bad idea for those without a garage, or living in an apartment...

Same thing happend to my 1980 Firebird back when I lived in Virginia Beach. I hate cities. Good luck and look at the bright side. At least you get get a set of wheels and tires you want. The GY tires suck anyways.

hat's what they make insurance for. With what factory wheels cost, you can get a set of aftermarket repro's and pocket some change.

Wow, sorry to see that, I hate douche bags like that. I am happy mine sleeps in the garage. When I had my C4 and C5, I lived in an apartment and they were outside, worst thing that happened someone kept stealing my friggin valve stem caps.
I can't imagine how I would have been had I come out to this...

You really need to make sure your insurance is involved and that PLENTY of pics of any damage are taken before and AFTER it is towed. I would try to get a cheap set of wheels/tires on if possible before anyone tries to tow it.

You need to look at this as an opportunity to make your Vette better. Good luck!

Man that sucks the big one. Frekin azzholes.....probably on a Camaro or something of that nature by now.

Hopefully only damage is maybe a rotor or two. Have a dealership find some kind of wheels/tires to get it loaded up on flat bed.

I wonder, did you have wheel locks on the stolen wheels?

I have them on my aftermarkets courtesy of Gerry, Wheels for Less.

Maybe insurance will pay enough to cover the new ones and use this as opportunity to put some money w/it and get w/Gerry and see what he can do fer ya.....

Sorry for the crap...none of us wants any part of that mess......wish we had castration as punishment....bet there would be less of this plus the shet heads who do would not be able to breed!!!!

Folk,

First of all thank you for your sympathy, kind words, and your help. This is a great forum thanks to good members like you. I heard all your advises and will do.

Progress as of today: Police report is done. Finger printing done because of significance of property damage. Insurance notified. Yet to send their appraiser. I got one "quick quote" from a reputable shop and they gave me a $30K estimate to start with. Extensive damage identified so far but we expect more.
- 4 wheels, TPMS, etc.
- Front fenders, inner lining, links, mud guards.
- Front bumper, air dam pieces...
- Radiator support, Radiator, Air Cond Radiator, condenser, ...
- Passenger side floor board. <-- This is bad. The seats and carpet needs to come out.
- Both rocker panels which lead all the way to door latch assemblies.
- One rear quarter panel plus its belongings.
- Both front hubs, rotors, A-Arm, One caliper, one upper A arm, Sway bar and links.
- Engine cradle.
We stopped here. There are damage on rear axle and links too. Hurts me to write about it. The jack they used (and eventually collapsed under the car) was too high to go under the car to begin with.
A good friend of mine is coming today so we investigate more. He is very knowledgeable in Camaros and Corvettes. I will send another update out tomorrow but folks, I feel like a moron not having wheel locks. This was my fault.

Please get a set of Gorilla wheel locks. $25 shipped.

Sounds like stupid teenage thieves looking for a quick buck.

So keep an eye on Craigslist...

My nephew's stolen racing kart engine & parts were found on CL. The teenage thieves were easily caught when the police & my brother-in-law posed as buyers.

WOW This infuriates me to read. I hope someone catches the thieves and this all works out for you soon.

I've used locking valve stem caps for many years.

Just be sure to buy extra keys.
