I'm looking for the best service place in the Detroit area to replace my 2008 Z06 windshield. It suffer harm from an errant stone on the freeway. I'd like them to be kind to my car as well as not get any adhesive where it shouldn't be.
Safelite, their work is guaranteed for the life of your car. I had a crack in the windshield on my GS this past spring, they did an awesome job in only 30 minutes!!
Any decent auto glass company should be able to do the job. Call some Chevy dealerships and ask who they use for their (Corvette) glass replacement. I've used SafeLite many times (on other vehicles) with good results. The little ding on your windshield might be repairable (instead of having to replace the glass). If you have a Head-Up Display (HUD) remember to specify you need HUD specific glass. Also, always carry the extra full-glass coverage on your auto insurance for a small, additional premium.....there's no deductible or charge to replace glass. Safelite handles insurance claims processing for most of the major insurance carriers no matter which auto glass company you use.
I just replaced my windshield 2 days ago for the second time in 3 years.
Thanks for the advice. Evidently I didn't choose to have zero-deductible on my glass replace insurance. Live and learn.
If the crack's a 'star' (as shown, above) it can be drilled-n-filled & doesn't require replacement. Huge $$ difference.
Some insurance companies (mine) pick-up the tab for DnFs, waive deduction. There're other insurance carriers providing this same service, so unless you need a new screen check again with your carrier.
Wayne O, when I read your comment, my first thought was you must live in Arizona. Then I looked and saw that you do. I lived in Page for several years and had to replace the windshield in my truck 5 times. Luckily, I never had to change out the one on my Vette.
I just replaced my windshield for the 2nd time in six years. I used All Star Glass for both replacements and had a great experience with them. I think they have shops in most states. As noted above, Safelite handles most insurance claims regardless of glass company used. They did for me with USAA, my insurance carrier. With my coverage my share was $50 each time.
So while thinking about where to get the windshield done, I thought I'd see who sold the most Corvettes near me (maybe Les Stanford) and that got me to stop in and take a look at the new cars. There could easily be a Convertible Grand Sport in my future. Torch red, I'm thinking. All this from a broken w/shield. Well, maybe ...
