More than once I've set off the Panic alarm by having the RKE fob in my pocket and having something in my pocket or the act of bending hit that button... Then the other day I actually pushed it accidentally when I intended to hit the trunk release... In the manual for the car, it says,
(Panic): Press to sound the horn. Press any other button on the RKE transmitter to stop it.
But the other day when I accidentally set it off, I intentionally roamed over and pressed the other three buttons, lock, unlock and trunk, but none of those stopped the alarm. Instead, I again pushed the panic button a second time and that stopped the alarm... At other times, it seems as though I've tried the panic a second time only to NOT have that work... So I'm a bit confused...
Does anyone else have knowledge of how to stop the Panic alarm?? thanks... By the way, my car is a 2012 GS convertible... bob...
I wish I could deactivate mine. My s2000 key fob's panic button is shaped very differently than the other buttons (not the same w the c6 fob), at the very bottom of the fob away from the other buttons (again not the same) and recessed so it is hard to press accidentally (again not the same w c6). Hopefully the design team has changed that horrible design flaw in the c7

Yeah, when I roll out of the garage in my other car, I sometimes have the corvette fob in my pocket and I usually drive away slowly to make sure I don't hear the horn going off on the corvette... Yeah, it isn't a very good design... Trivially easy to hit that button and light off the horn... And I'm still not sure which button should be used to shut it off...
common thing there,,, i try to point the buttons toward me while its in my pocket. Its usually runnig into something and the buttons pointed ok that cause it. good luck with it, paul
Funny, just this afternoon I tested this on my new '12 GS Coupe. I had to repeatedly punch other buttons for probably 10 secs before it stopped. I am confused as well.

Hi... I have actually had several experiences with this panic button and at least a time or two I've had your experience, where it seems I've punched ALL the buttons at least once while it's going off and NONE of them have shut it off... My guess is that it actually requires a button push that lasts perhaps longer than what I do when I'm stressed and trying to shut down the horn...
The manual clearly says push any other button... But that doesn't seem to work... Once I had it go off and I never could get it to stop... It stopped on its own after what I would guess was a two minute timeout... This weekend, maybe I will take the care out in the street and away from bugging all the neighbors and really test what works and what doesn't... It's hard to do such a test when you're trying not to bother the neighbors so your only goal is shutting down the noise...
During my museum delivery, the panic button somehow was pushed (not by me). Looking back, it was quite funny watching him fumble with all the buttons as that loud azz horn went off inside. I think he pushed the panic button again to finally get it shut off.
Hold the button down until the horn stops. Just a simple push and release is not enough.
Better arrangement, especially when you have everything set to passive operation, is to put a piece of celophane or celophane tape over any or all the inside contacts that you want to disable.
Had the same thing happen to me the other day. I was in the house and heard an alarm going off and I thought, what idiot neibhors alarm is going off. I must have hit the button in my pocket some how and couldn't get mine to stop untill I opened my door.
I brushed up against something in my back yard a few weeks ago and bumped the panic button on my fob in the pocket of my cargo pants. I can't tell you what the manual says but I instinctively went for the panic button itself to shut the horn down. Worked fine. Now I try to position the fob with the button toward my leg to avoid the bumps.
OMG....my wife is not too happy with me when that dam alarm goes off in the garage because I had the key fob in my pocket...etc...and I'm pushing the buttons on the fob with no success to shut the alarm off....and the alarm is going ...on and on.....(I hate that thing)
What I found is that with the key fob in my pocket...if I just reach in to the drivers door and touch the pad to open the door...the alarm gets shut off fastest.. wham bam thank you mam...its over
Been driving a C6 for almost 8 years now. With the fob in my pocket, I finally hit the panic button accidentally while leaning over the side of the car to check the oil level. Only tried the panic button to turn off the horn and it worked.

I carry the fob (with the car key attached) in my left front jeans pocket....I always try to keep the button side against my leg. I've rarely set-off the panic alarm my accident.
I've never punched the panic button by accident, but I have popped the rear hatch with the FOB in my pocket while inside my house. Yeah, I look out the front window of my house and see my rear hatch is open! Glad I noticed, could've been that way all night.
