Default 2012 Engine Bay ?

All,

I have just purchased a 2012 GS and my engine covers are concerning as all the ones I have seen to date are a little different than what I have. I have the six speed with dry sump and most of the covers I have seen do not have an area where the oil filler cap would go on the cover. Mine does but is blanked out underneath...is that normal for the 2012?

Normal,
don't ever remove it !,
oil (10.5 qts) goes in the dry sump by the firewall pass side.

That is not How mine came. Sounds like you got a wet sump frc with some sort of block on the back side of the hole where the oil fill neck would be. If I am understanding you correctly. Both of my FRC's look the same except for the left/right thing, no blocked holes in the right side

Did you buy the Chevy ones that have the carbon fiber look, as those have the hole in the passenger side for the automatics.

Not sure what you mean by "don't make them for sump"? All the MZ6's I have seen have the solid cover...did I get a leftover or something on mine?

these look nice - so, did you replace the standard red letter covers with these - or was car ordered with them? My 6sp manual dry sump 2012 GS has the black with red letter ones.

Those are NOT the stock fuel rail covers man. I have a '12 dry-sump GS CE, and the covers are actually really nice. Both solid black, with red 'Corvette LS3' letters. I can take a pic if you want. Did you buy the car new? That'd be strange if so. By the way, that right fuel rail cover looks like crap like that IMO. I'd demand the stock covers if new. And cheap GM keeps putting the same valve covers on dry-sump cars, but at least now they made new fuel-rail covers to prevent owners from pouring oil thru that cap. NEVER DO THAT folks. By now everybody knows that, but better mention it again for future readers, just in case .

I agree, someone changed the stock covers for the GM accessory version. They did not make the accessory version for the dry sump LS3.

I'd demand the original ones. Below is a pic so you can make a decision. They look much nicer without the freaking hole IMO. Good luck.

You could, but being you bought a 2012, it has probably been on the lot for at least six months. They could have been changed at anytime in that period. I doubt they would have saved the old covers.

I just saw your pictures in your other post. If you did not pay for any of that stuff, it looks like you got about $500+ in free GM accessories. Anything with the Jake logo on it did not come with the car either. All of that was added by the dealer after the fact.

Someone at the dealership tried to make a nice looking Vette with some accessories, and just messed up with that would work on the dry sump car.
