2012 GS TPMS Learn Mode???

I just went and put my car into the learn mode. Just like in the video, I put my fob on the console and push AND HOLD both buttons down.
It took about 4 to 5 seconds of holding down both buttons until the horn honked - it doesn't just beep immediately when you push and release both buttons.
If holding both buttons down for 5 seconds or so (I'd say it should certainly honk by 10 seconds), then you definitely have a problem.

Make sure to have the e-brake on or it won't let you do it..

I had Discount Tire put a set of chrome Z06 wheels with new sensors on the car several months ago. They commented that is was an "B@#$ getting the sensors calibrated. I thought it was the equipment they were using, I guess now it was the cars problem.
Thanks for your help Bob.

I took the car to the dealer yesterday, told the ticker writer my story and with a puzzled look she wrote it all down. About an hour or so later I received a call telling me that they got the tire sensors all matched up once again but the horn wasn't working
SO, bottom line it appears that the car could have been going into "Learn Mode" all the time.......but the horn Modula was keeping me from knowing it
Hope this helps the next guy

I had an o8 SS Impala and no tool was needed just raise or lower pressure starting with LF and listening for horn!. I always heard that it took a magnet on the stem before the expensive tool came out. Is this a myth?

I've heard of people using magnets on some older cars but I don't know which ones. All of my GM vehicles since tpms came out have always needed the reset tool.

The C5 tire pressure sensors are triggered by a magnet.
The VERY early C6 ( built prior to Sept 2004) came with a sensor that was also used in the 2004/2005 Cadillac XLR - and they can be triggered by a magnet.
However, starting in about Sept '04 a sensor was used that can only be triggered by a TPMS tool.
In the 2010 model year they changed the TPMS computer in the car and it uses one of 2 sensors - both of which are different from the sensor used in the 2005-2009 models. .
The 2010 and 2011 built in December 2010 or prior came with a sensor that can be triggered by changing air pressure in the tire.
Beginning in January 2011 they started using a different sensor (same TPMS, just started installing a different sensor), and that sensor requires a tool to trigger it.
So.....there are VERY few early C6's whose sensors can be triggered by a magnet.
There are also a limited number of C6's in which the sensors can be triggered by changing air pressure.
I have a set of 4 of the sensors that will respond to changing air pressure if somebody needs them for any 2010 or newer C6 - $130 shipped.
I have a set of 4 of the early sensors that will trigger with a magnet - they will work with any 2005-2009 C6. They will also trigger with the signal from a TPMS tool. If you want to trigger them with a magnet, you'll need to use them in OE wheels (or wheels where they mount in the OE manner, with the valve stem sticking out of the wheel), because the magnet must be put on the valve stem to trigger it - $130 shipped.
I also have a couple TPMS tools available - TIPS and KTi (same tool, just one is green and one is red) $135 shipped.

I like the idea of a tool...it's better than having to have an air compressor or go to a gas station to refill the tires after letting air out to program the sensors.

This last time I replaced a sensor and horn didn't chirp. I doubled checked and made sure I was in Accessory mode and NOT run. I checked the FOB and it locked, unlocked the doors, opened hatched, etc. I checked my horn and it beeped when I pushed the steering wheel.
Perplexed, I left it for another day.
So, a couple days later I decided to give it another try. Nothing. However, maybe it was a quieter day or something, because when I held the the Lock/Unlock buttons, about the time I'd normally expect to hear the horn chirp, I heard the faintest clicking sound. I mean it was very faint but audible. Thought to myself, I wonder if it is going into learn mode? So I gave it a try. While using my TPMS tool at each corner of the car, I could hear the faint click and at the last corner, it was a double click... just like the horn would have done.
I got in and started the car and all 4 sensors registered fine.
I don't have my repair manuals with me so I haven't looked at the electrical schematics yet, but it sounded like a solenoid or relay was clicking. It must be whatever the learn mode uses to tell the horn to beep went bad. But I was stoked because it still works fine.
Just wanted to share with a post supporting your findings.

Push and hold both lock and unlock buttons on the fob at the same time until you get the honk with the fob next to the shifter.
If you have problems, try the other Fob for the car.

Interesting, just had same issue with new tire and rims install. shop could not reset. I went to dealership and they had issues but finally got it done. Now I'm going to be swapping out tires to run some HPDE at the track. I'll let you know if the tool i have works. I'm also going to stop at the dealer and ask what they had done last time.
