I would say it's been in an accident and someone did some homemade repairs.

OEM certainly doesn't look like that.

The only wood on a C6 vette I know of are the CF floorboards of the Z Vettes. Balsa sandwiched between carbon fiber.

From Corvetteactioncenter.com:

Sandwich Composite Floor with Lightweight Balsa Wood Core
Corvette’s floor is constructed using two layers of an aircraft type composite material wrapped around a balsa wood core. The balsa wood helps filter out noise and vibration, and makes the floor 10 times stiffer than the use of composites alone. Numerous “high tech” synthetic fillers were tried, but none matched the stiffness, light weight and damping performance of natural balsa wood.

That's not what his photo is showing.

Here's what a stripped interior looks like.

I don't think you need anymore proof than what you can see. It clearly has had an accident. How long have you had it?

That first picture needs more context...how big is that piece and where is it exactly? Another pic of that from further out would help us.

Just my opinion, but Carfax is a load of cr*p. Not all insurance companies report their claims to history.
I guess it's still worth the money for CarFax just to make sure that the car has not been considered salvaged in the past, but other than that it is USELESS!

Never buy a used car without a complete visual inspection by a seasoned body collision guy.

At the very least you should have had them put it on a lift and looked under the car.

Lesson learned. Sorry for your situation.

No shop that did that repair would ever turn it in to carfax. It looks like shadetree back alley work at it's worst.

But plywood has no place in a C6.

Man that sucks. I would certainly go back to where you bought it and give them a piece of my mind.

Was it a small used car lot or some sort of dealership? If it was a dealership, I would get a lawyer involved.

A dealership most certainly would have known about that problem. Very easy to spot from underneath the car and most would have checked out the car before they took it in trade in or bought it.

That really sucks.

If this car was wrecked and reported there is no way it would have passed inspection. The dealer had to know about this as I am sure they had the car up in the air at one time to do a safety check.

I have to ask
who does your oil changes as well?
They would had to have noticed this when car was up in the air. Or did they give you free oil changes for life so nobody else would be snooping under the car
