With gas being almost impossible to get in the NYC area (2-4 hour wait)going too syphon gas out of the vette too put in my d.d.my question is i know the C6 has 2 tanks so when i take fuel out of 1 tank does the fuel in the 2nd tank automatically go into the 1st and do i need too have the car running? Anyone ever do this? Tx
Wish I could help you out but I don't think that's how it works, though. I think there's a valve and it drains one tank, and then the valve switches it to the other tank, but I'm not that sure.
I don't know the answer to your question, but siphoning out gas while the car is running can't end well. I've been watching the news and I surely wish you the best up there as things are starting to look like a Madmax movie up there.
I would imagine car, or at least the fuel system, is required to be On for the fuel to move from one tank to the other tank. Tank #1 is on the driver's side and tank #2 is the passenger's side. During fill up, #1 fills, then #2. During use, #2 empties first, then #1.

I believe, the tanks pretty much equalize when the car is in use. If you siphon some gas I'd stop at some point, start and run the car a bit. I'd guess that should equalize the fuel level(s) between the two tanks before you start siphoning again. I think even when the fuel gauge reads empty there's still some fuel in the tanks. I wouldn't try to completely drain the Vette. Good luck and I hope life returns to normal for everyone soon.
PS I don't understand why obama doesn't order military fuel trucks to the afflicted areas. I don't expect the government to give fuel away but they could setup a portable, cell phone credit card system and sell the fuel to people at cost. It would make life a bit easier until services are restored.
From recently speaking with a GM Tech, there is a secondary pump in the right tank that equalizes the level of fuel in both tanks. So, I would guess that if the C6 has fuel, and you drain the first tank, by simply starting the car and allowing it to run for a period of time, the tanks would again balance out, and you could drain some more.
If you can find a parts store that's open, or borrow one; get a cheap hand pump instead of siphoning. You don't want a mouth full of gasoline in addition to all the other problems.
Yeah, devious Democrats trying to help people. They should be ashamed.
On a more C6-related note, doesn't the Vette have an anti-siphon valve of some kind?
They started putting in anti siphon screens in GM cars in the early 70s do to a "gas crises". To the best of my knowledge they still put the screen in. Have not tried to siphon gas lately but I have tried in a few cars since the 70s and the hose only goes down a few inches.

There is quite a bit of misinformation in this thread to include the info from your GM Tech. The passenger side tank empties first followed by the driver's side. When your gauge reads half full your passenger side tank is empty and the driver's side tank is full. When you refill you refuel the driver's side tank first and then it flows via the crossover tube to fill the passenger side tank. Follow this link and read through it carefully. Your GM tech is wrong. Although this link references late C5's...the system is identical in the C6 Corvette...
There's a ball-style check valve in the filler neck - it's there to prevent leaks if the vehicle rolls, but it also serves to prevent siphoning. You can't get a hose of any kind of size past it; you might be able to get something like aquarium air line past, but it'll take forever to get any kind of throughput with that.
Link please. If this is true this is nothing more than the Democrats handy work for votes.
What on earth is wrong with you. People are devastated, lost everything and your worried that the Democrats are helping to get votes. The president is doing his job!!!
So has anyone tried this? Am i able to get fuel out or is there an anti syphon mechanism in there? I do have a totally full tank in the vette...this sux!!!!
