I am starting to decide on options for the C7. I have decided on a black convertible top now on to the exhaust (NPP). I did demo a 2012 with the NPP option and frankly wasn't impressed. My normal shift point is around 3,000 rpm, not enough to open the valves. I know about using an aftermarket controller to open the valves at command. Also have seen where people have prevented the valves from closing completely. NPP as delivered from the factory just doesn't deliver. Sounds almost like the standard factory system, unless you push it above 3,500 rpm. This happens but not in town behind traffic. At $1,600 I am thinking standard factory exhaust and then changing to aftermarket, saving about $600 in the process. Am I missing something?
...we're sure of all the specs on the C7 ? what if a "bi-mode exhaust system" is standard equipment ? planning is always exciting, but until all is known
you could be a bit pre-mature...
FWIW, I've had two C6's so equipped and I do like it...

At present, what exhaust will appear on the C7 is only a guess for most of us. I too am very happy with the NPP exhaust on our Grand Sport.
BTW, the MSRP for the NPP for the 2013 model year Grand Sport was $1195, not $1600. We purchased the car under invoice so the NPP came out to much less than MSRP.

I am with you, I dont like the sound of it and its no where near as beefy or refined as other systems on the market, and the price is not that much different. Having had a 427 vert at a meet a few weeks ago it sounded like a gurgling 1983 2 cycle aluminum fishing boat engine at idle and though it sounded better when he got on it, it couldnt hold a candle to the C5 with a Corsa that was on hand. This guy had the valves open when he was at idle.
Its a strange sound.
Sorry to offend as it is not my intention so please dont flame me.
LOVE the NPP. It may not be a loud as some aftermarket exhaust, but I also like that I can decide to leave it open (I have the M2W) or close it if a want a quiet cruise down the highway. I've had cars with loud exhaust and I really appreciate the quiet on long drives!
I would definitely get it again if it's available. WE LOVE ours. I keep it open prolly 80% of the time though. I have M2W but just pulling fuse is really easy too.
Hopefully team Corvette will spend some time tuning the C7 exhaust, b/c it's pretty sad when a Yukon SUV and V8 stangs have a superior exhaust note than the vette.
NPP was a must for me. The standard exhaust system is just too quiet and I didn't want to go to an aftermarket system. The dual mode exhaust works best with the Mild 2 Wild controller. You can have it aggressive sounding at any engine speed or quiet as your taking that long trip without the drone.

There are better sounding exhaust notes out there and I have to admit the Mustang GT 5.0/ Boss 302/ Shelby's have the best!
Yep, I wouldn't burn too much time on the exhaust until you know if it's an available option, or if it comes standard.
I didn't research the NPP but am happy with the system on my GS, although some say the B&B Fusions have better/louder sound. I installed an add-a-fuse circuit so I can turn it on/off at will, but it stays open 99% of the time anyway. The car is very quiet when they're closed.
If money were no object & I had a Z06/ZR1 I'd buy the Akrapovic titanium system.
NPP is best for me like it when it opens at 3500RPM's when I get on it but would not want to have it opened all the time to much noise for my liking when I pulled the fuse.

Lol, i passed a prius the other day and it was louder than my car. Is it true that the 2012-13's come with 2 extra catalytic converters, cuz quiet/weak is an understatement!

Yeah they added 2 additional cats.
I haven't listened to the new set-up side-by-side with say a '10 model to see of if that made any difference. It might quiet it even more, tho, just as you suggest.
