Hi guys - I know I'm bumping an old thread but wanted to take a minute out and say thank you! I've been getting tires and wheels swapped recently so I could get my Crays repaired and found myself with the FL:XX FR:XX message and was bummed about having to go back to the shop yet again. I read this, bought an inexpensive TPMS reset tool from Amazon, (was literally $13 bucks) followed the procedures above, and it fixed me up.
I was able to do it by using Accessory mode, looks like there was some back and forth about what mode to be in. Then just went around to each tire and when the horn beeped once went to the next one. When I did tire number 4, the horn beeped twice, I turned the car from Acc to Off, opened and closed the door, then started the car with no error message displayed and tire pressure readings all around! woohoo
I bought this one and it arrived at my door the very next day.

Anyway just wanted to say thinks to my fellow Corvette brothers for being so helpful, this site allows a dude like me to own a car that still makes me smile every time I walk up to it in the parking lot!
Thanks,
Nick
What year is your vette? I'm going to buy this as well.
Hey guys... bringing this old thread back from the dead to ask... do you have to do this TPMS re-learn procedure EVERY time you swap different wheels/sensors onto the car... or just the FIRST time you use them?
I'm buying an second set of wheels to use for autocross/track days, so I'll be swapping my daily-drive wheels and the new ones back & forth. Will I have to reset the TPMS's every time I swap wheels - or just the first time I use the new ones?
Im one of the lucky ones that have a 2011. I had a bad rim and had the dealer mount a new tire and new sensor to the new rim. I believe my car uses the earlier 2009 style sensors and they installed the later 2011 style that’s pressure activated to learn TPMS. Will both style sensors work with the car and it’s just the way they learn?
Essentially can i use the tool on my 3 original sensors and add air to the 4th new sensor for them to learn? Or will i have to swap to the old style sensor that uses the tpms relearn tool?
What makes you think you need 2005-2009 sensors? If you have a 2011, you should use the 2010-2013 sensors. 05-09 need the trigger tool. 10-13 are pressure triggered like you mention. Pretty sure your car won't see the 05-09 sensors at all.
There was a switch in the 2011 model year to the new type of sensor. Early 2011s could used the older style, then GM switched to the later style. My ‘11 could use both, the original green sensors which it shipped with, and the later black version. The black version could only be learned by using the tool. It is incorrect to state that 10 - 13 are pressure triggered because 12 - 13 are certainly not. Dino’s Corvette Salvage kind of summarizes it here https://www.corvettesalvage.com/how-...3-c6-corvette/
Keep in mind that it’s possible to pair the sensors to the car without installing the sensor in the rim. Just enter the relearn procedure and place the sensor on the ground beside the wheel, and hold the relearn tool up against the sensor. Label the sensor with a bit of masking tape so you can write on it and record the position i.e. LF, RF, and so on. This is a good idea if you are supplying the sensors and saves the expense of uninstalling them if they won’t program. If the tire shop is supplying and installing them, making it work is their problem.
