Default Considering Corsa Catback???

I just picked up my 1st Vette about a week ago. It is stock. Everyone I have talked to says to go with Corsa for my exhaust. I am trying to get some input. I found a Corsa exhaust model number: 14165, for Manual corvettes only it says, and it's a Catback system that comes with the X-pipe as well for $1715.... what do you guys think??? IYAOYAS

no idea what that last "WORD" is, but corsa makes at least three different models. ck their website. go to a corv. club meeting and see if you can hear the diff models on c6s before you buy. don't forget that sound clips are like paint chips from HD or Lowes---they may njot be that accurate. most don't drone at speed, a big plus to many. as I recall, in order of loudness, there's touring, sport, extreme, etc.

A good set of headers really wakes up the Corsas!! Love mine.

If you ain't ordnance you ain't s**t is "iyaoyas"

And judging by this I recommended the Corsa Extreme system, sounds like it likes things loud!

Happy hearing to the OP.

Corsa IMHO is the single best exhaust on the market. It sounds incredibly unique and is docile and quiet when cruising but then screams like a raped ape when you on the throttle.....you have the best of both worlds

Here is a link to my video, I have Corsa Xtreme's and LT's....

I would recommend a quality exhaust by Corsa or Borla. Everyone has their own idea of what sounds best so much depends on your personal sound preference. Also, give consideration to whether or not you will performance modify your car in the future as modifications can change the exhaust note considerably. Borla exhausts are susceptible to producing drone in the C6 while Corsa exhausts are known to be drone-free. Certain exhausts try to mimic a muscle car sound but IMO come-off being loud and obnoxious. I like an exhaust to produce a clean exhaust note reflective of what's under the hood....at low to moderate RPM's conversations aren't drowned-out but at WOT the exhaust blasts!

If possible, I suggest you try to attend a Corvette club event, a car show or visit a track venue so you can hear different Corvette exhausts firsthand. Decide for yourself which sounds best. FWIW I have the Corsa Sport exhaust on my modified C6 and IMHO it sounds great. Good luck.

I have NPP on my GS and I'm happy with the system, but I installed Corsa Touring on my '96 LT4 and the sound quality, fit and finish was top notch. You definitely get what you pay for. Unlike the Borla's there was no drone (Borla's were horrendous in this regard) and as others have said, the Corsa's are quiet at cruise but really aggressive at WOT. Highly recommend.

Depending on your year vette you already have an x or h pipe and you CAN change the sound of your vette with one of several Corsa cat backs...(everything after the x pipe for less than 1200)

If you have an automatic the sport might be perfect but the extreme may be best for manual...(I have the sport on my manual and I love it but it is rather quiet until you hit the go pedal)

What years/models have the X pipe?

To the OP, I ran 2 sets of Corsas on my C5 before dumping them and going with a set from B&B. Had both the pace car and touring editions. Hated both. They were fine at idle, cruising around town, and while you were in the throttle. But as soon as you let out of the throttle it sounded like the car was backed into water with the pipes slightly covered, it just gurgled. A lot of people liked it, but to me, it was never a proper V8 sound.

To be fair, I haven't heard the Corsas on a C6 yet but I suspect they are at least similar. As someone else said, listen to them in person before you buy. My mistakes due to being impatient cost me a fair bit of money and hassle.

If you want to save some denaro, look for the thread dealing with drilling a hole in your stock muffler with a hole saw. Cheap, and very effective. Or you could spend your $1715. Just saying there are options.

Not sure how 'wild' you want to go. I've had my Corsa 'Touring' system on for about 7 years now and still like it a lot. Top quality for sure. I actually took two mufflers off and put four back on. There are two tunnel mufflers up front. It's just enough sound to let someone know there's not a four or six under that hood. Virtually no drone either. I can take the two tunnel mufflers out, put my stock H pipe back on (longer) and have the Sport system but I've never done that.

IMHO, Borla's belong on Camaro's and Mustang's. Just not a sophisticated sound befitting a Corvette. Corsa, while distinct in sound are just a tad not masculine enough. I have the cat back Magnaflow set up and love the deeper yet hearty masculine sound without being kid car sounding. As for NPP, a fiend has a new GS and thinks very little of them. Each to his own however.....

There are several issues to consider but I have Corsa Extremes and love the deep sound. I chose to not install the X-Pipe because it sounds great without it, I like the popping and gurgling sound when you slow down. The X-pipe would basically eleminate this. Besides sound you need to also consider drome, no question Corsa will be the quitest at highway speeds

I took the tunnel mufflers/h-pipe off my touring and just used the stock '08 x-pipe with the sport mufflers. I liked it so much I sold the tunnel muffler set up here on CF and am still running the sport system. Best out there to my ears.
